Please see Pay Grade Table at: Occupational Category Professional Department Counseling Center Division Division of Student Affairs Open Date 03/10/2026 Open Until Filled Yes Educational and Experience Requirement Psychologist III: Doctorate degree in Counseling, Psychology, Clinical Psychology, or other degree acceptable to the Texas State Board of Examiners of Psychologists (TSBEP). Licensed Psychologist (LP) in the State of Texas. Minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible post-licensure clinical experience, preferably in higher education. Demonstrated experience providing supervision and leadership in clinical settings.Additional education may be considered in lieu of experience. Psychologist IV: Doctorate degree in Counseling Psychology, Clinical Psychology, Psychology, or a related field acceptable to Texas State Board of Examiners of Psychologists (TSBEP). Licensed Psychologist (LP) in the State of Texas. Minimum of seven or more years of post-licensure clinical experience, with demonstrated leadership responsibility. Specialized expertise in areas such as crisis intervention, trauma, medical/health professions mental health, or program development preferred.Additional education may be considered in lieu of experience. Nature & Purpose of Position Psychologist III: Provides expert clinical care and contributes to Counseling Center leadership through supervision, consultation, outreach strategy, and program development. Supports complex clinical cases and serves as a resource for staff working with students in a university setting, including but not limited to medical and graduate training environments. Psychologist IV: Provides senior clinical leadership and consultation, supports Counseling Center strategic initiatives, and serves as an expert resource for complex clinical, ethical, and systemic issues. Strengthens clinical quality, staff development, and institutional response to student mental health needs at the university setting. Primary Responsibilities Psychologist III: Provides advanced clinical services for complex or high-risk cases. Serves as a clinical supervisor and mentor for licensed and unlicensed staff, trainees, and interns. Participates in clinical program development, policy review, and quality improvement initiatives. Leads or coordinates outreach and prevention efforts targeting higher risk populations. Consults with faculty, administrators, and campus leadership regarding student mental health concerns. Assists in crisis response coordination and post-crisis follow-up. Serves on university committees and represents the Counseling Center as assigned. Maintains compliance with ethical and regulatory standards. Performs other related duties as assigned. Psychologist IV: Provides expert clinical services and consultation for complex, high-risk, or specialized cases. Serves as a lead supervisor and mentor for psychology staff and trainees. Contributes to strategic planning, policy development, and clinical program innovation. Advises Counseling Center leadership on trends, risks, and best practices related to student mental health. Leads or supports institution-wide initiatives related to crisis response, wellness, and prevention. Collaborates with senior academic and administrative leadership across all SHSU campuses. Represents the Counseling Center on high-level committees and initiatives. Performs other related duties as assigned. Other Specifications Psychologist III: Must have expertise in clinical assessment and treatment of complex cases. Must demonstrate strong supervisory and leadership skills. Ability to influence programmatic decisions and support clinical quality improvement. Advanced communication and consultation skills.. Supervision towards licensure is provided. Psychologist IV: Demonstrated excellence in clinical leadership and supervision. Advanced expertise in high-acuity and high-stress student populations. Strong strategic thinking and consultation skills. Ability to influence institutional practices and improve student outcomes. Supervision towards licensure is provided.
