Senior Healthcare Mechanical EngineerLocation: Hybrid - Indianapolis, IN (2 days onsite, 3 days remote)Join a nationally recognized building-systems consultancy that is expanding its healthcare practice across the Midwest. You'll have autonomy to lead marquee hospital projects, direct junior engineers, and work with a forward-thinking leadership team that invests in cutting-edge design tools and your professional development.Key ResponsibilitiesLead HVAC, plumbing, and medical-gas system design for new construction and renovation projects in acute-care and outpatient facilities, delivering code-compliant, energy-efficient solutions.Translate clinical workflows into resilient building systems by partnering with architects, BIM technicians, and cross-disciplinary engineers.Perform load calculations, life-cycle cost analyses, and equipment selections, ensuring every design decision maximizes performance and patient safety.Review submittals, vendor drawings, and field observations, resolving issues quickly to keep projects on schedule and budget.Mentor designers and junior engineers, sharing best practices in sustainable healthcare design and encouraging continual learning.Champion quality control by conducting peer reviews and leveraging AI-driven design automation to streamline deliverables.Support project managers in client meetings, presenting technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders and cultivating long-term relationships.Stay current on healthcare codes (FGI, ASHRAE 170) and emerging technologies to drive innovation in infection control, air quality, and energy management.Skills & QualificationsBachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from an ABET-accredited program; PE license (or ability to obtain within 12 months) preferred.8+ years of mechanical design experience, with at least 4 years focused on hospital or life-science facilities.Proficiency in Revit, load calculation software (e.g., HAP), and collaboration platforms (BIM 360, Bluebeam).Working knowledge of FGI Guidelines, NFPA 99, NFPA 101, ASHRAE 90.1, and Indiana building codes.Strong written and verbal communication skills; able to lead client charrettes and mentor multidisciplinary teams.Certifications such as ASHRAE HFDP, LEED AP, or CxA are a plus.What's In It For YouCompensation: Competitive base salary with annual bonus program.Benefits: 401(k) with match, generous PTO, paid parental leave, and full medical, dental, and vision coverage from day one.Growth: Clear technical-leadership track and paid continuing-education budget.Flexibility: Hybrid schedule plus summer half-days.Impact: Your work directly improves patient outcomes across the Midwest.About Blue Signal: Blue Signal is a leading executive search firm, specializing in engineering recruitment.
