Job DescriptionPOSITION SUMMARYThe Trauma Program Registrar is responsible and accountable for the direction, coordination, and maintenance of the trauma registry and its data submission to the Pennsylvania Trauma Systems Foundation (PTSF). MINIMUM REQUIREMENTSEducation:Graduate of a Health Information Management Technology Program Will consider candidates with a degree in a healthcare related fieldExperience:1 year full time experience for candidates who graduated from a Health Information Management Technology Program or degree in a healthcare related fieldPreference will be given to candidates with at least one of the following:Certified Specialist in Trauma Registries (CSTR) certificationPrevious trauma program abstraction experienceKnowledge, Skills, Abilities:Knowledge of the clinical content of a medical record, including medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, pharmacology and disease processesThorough and accurate data management skillsProficiency in data base managementAbility to effectively manage multiple demands and prioritiesLicense/Certification/Registration:Certified Specialist in Trauma Registries (CSTR) certification will be given first preferenceSUPERVISION RECEIVEDReceives general supervision from the Supervisor, Quality & Patient SafetySUPERVISION GIVENNoneResponsibilitiesESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSRegular and active interface with the Trauma Program Coordinator, Trauma Program Medical Director, and the external agencies associated with the trauma programActive participation in the Trauma Steering Committee and other related trauma program committeesMaintains strict data collection compliance training with system methodology in relation to the data management platform and trauma program, including ICD- 10 and CPT II codingDevelopment and on- going maintenance of an Interrater Reliability processSupports the Performance Improvement & Patient Safety (PIPS) Program through the coordination, analysis and dissemination of performance data related to the Trauma ProgramActive participation in survey readiness and site survey activitiesMaintains a strong working knowledge of clinical abstraction methodology, medical terminology and the clinical content of medical records including basic understanding of anatomy, physiology, and pharmacologyNON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSPerforms additional assignments as delegated by supervisory personnel within the scope of responsibilityAbout UsWhy Mount Nittany Health?At Mount Nittany Health, we provide high-quality patient care with a unique combination of the latest in clinical technology and compassionate medical professionals.
