We are the leading provider of behavioral health and substance use disorder services in Northwest Ohio. Services include adult and child psychiatric, substance abuse, case management, residential, Crisis Care, and therapy programs, as well as career development and wellness services. Zepf Center also offers primary care medical services to our patients to contribute to their continuum of care. Zepf Center is a trauma-informed agency and environment for both patients and staff.We are currently seeking a Full-Time Patient Care Tech for our SUD (Substance Use Disorder) Team. This position is responsible for performing a variety of clerical duties relating to the updating and organizing of information on the inpatient units; coordinating work within the unit; reporting pertinent information to the immediate supervisor; responding to inquiries and requests from staff personnel, etc. Supports patient care delivery by providing clerical services as well as patient supervision and observation. This individual must be alert, empathic, and attentive to meet the significant needs of the residential patients.Hours: Three, 12-hour weekly shifts; 7:00am - 7:30pm with rotating weekendsJob duties include but are not limited to: Helps patients by responding to requests, obtaining needed services from nurses, licensed practical nurses, counselors, physicians, and other personnel.Provides information by answering questions and requests.Conducts urine screens and takes care of the shipmentsOrders tests and makes appointments, accepts and records lab reports and orders prescriptionsMaintains unit operations by following policies and procedures; reporting needed changes.Maintains patient confidence and protects inpatient operations by keeping information confidentialAssists with changing of bed linens and ensuring that housekeeping is contacted regarding cleaningEnsures that bed linens are clean and availableAssists with setting out food and taking patients cafeteria when neededAssists with monitoring patients with showers, laundry and other patient needsPerform various clerical duties relating to the updating and organizing of information on the nursing units as illustrated by the following:Assembles patient charts and prepares other medical record forms required for patient admission, transfer, or dismissalDocuments patient care services by copying nursing and physician notes to patient and department records.Answer the telephone in a professional manner; direct calls to appropriate individuals and/or take messages.Stock units with office and medical supplies weekly; prepare requisitions to maintain established inventories.Fax and photocopy information as needed.Coordinate specific work tasks with other personnel within the unit as well as within other units and departments in order to ensure the smooth and efficient flow of information.Participate in computer training and assume gradually increasing computer-related responsibilities.Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations, adhering to infection-control policies and protocols.Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.Provide ongoing support of patients' individual recovery processes.Use appropriate motivational techniques to engage patients in successfully completing their treatment.Maintain a healthy environment that will promote the recovery process.Provide basic chemical dependency education that consistently directs patients toward achieving full recovery (i.e., disease of addiction, blackouts, withdrawal, effects on self and others, triggers, relapse process and prevention).Communicate and cooperate with peers and medical staff to ensure quality patient care.Practice courtesy and professionalism with patients, staff and other departments.Practice and promote a good work ethic through promptness and good attendance.Maintain a calm, cooperative and positive outlook in working with patients, coworkers, referral sources, and family members.Perform other duties as assigned.Requirements Maturity and dependability and high school diploma or GED.Knowledge and adherence of CARF standards.Medical terminologyCommon medical proceduresGeneral clerical practices and proceduresValid driver's license and the ability to be covered under the agency's commercial car insurance.Proof of car insurance for the vehicle that will be driven in the course of business.EOE/M/F/D/V/SO
