DHR Health - US:TX:Edinburg - DaysSummary:POSITION SUMMARY:The Tumor Registry Manager under the direction of the Oncology Institute Administrator and in collaboration with the Cancer Committee Chair, is accountable for the oversight and maintenance of DHR's Tumor Registry functions including case identification and abstracting, reporting, follow-up and statistical completion for all reportable cancer cases. The Manager must ensure that direct reports abstract, code and enter all reportable cancer cases. In addition to assuring a cancer registry compliant with State regulations, the Manager oversees the American College of Surgeons (ACOS) approved cancer registry under the guidelines of the ACOS Commission on Cancer (CoC). The Manager assists Oncology Institute Administrator to ensure ACOS Commission on Cancer standards are met and maintained. POSITION EDUCATION/ QUALIFICATIONS: Associate's Degree in Health Information Management required. Bachelor's Degree preferred.Current Certification by the National Cancer Registrars Association Council on Certification, Certified Tumor Registrar (CTR) required. JOB KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE: Minimum three years of experience in performing Cancer Registry tasks, including abstracting experience in a hospital setting.Two years previous supervisory experienceSupervisory experience over Certified Tumor Registrars is preferred. Knowledge of ACOS Commission on Cancer standards, required Experience with COC Datalinks, preferred Thorough knowledge of computers systems including Microsoft Office, cancer registry software and database management is strongly preferred. Technical knowledge of the disease process, diagnostic methods and procedures, and treatments in the field of oncology Technical knowledge of medical record systems and data interpretation is needed. Statistical and analytic skills; knowledge and skills in coding with the Facility Oncology Registry Data Standards (FORDS), and the Standards for Oncology Registry Entry (STORE), Surveillance, Epidemiology & End Results (SEER), International Classification of Disease, Ninth and Tenth Editions (ICD-9 & ICD-10), International Classification of Disease for Oncology, Third Edition (ICD-O3) and the American Joint Committee on Cancer (AJCC) Staging Manuals and Collaborative Staging. Responsibilities:POSITION RESPONSIBILITES: Accountable for the day to day operations and oversight of the Cancer Registry team. Training of cancer registry team members. Supervises staff, contract staff and workload. Assist Cancer Program Director as needed to ensure compliance with ACOS Commission on Cancer standards.Communicates with medical staff from other departments such as Surgical Oncology, Radiation Oncology and Medical Oncology on data requests, agenda items and AJCC staging issues related to compliance with standards. Assists medical staff with data queries on patient care evaluation studies. Performs all duties of Cancer Registry such as case identification, abstracting, coding, case submission, and staging. Ensures Registry is in compliance with State Reporting guidelines and stays within reporting deadlines. Ensures Registry is in compliance with National Cancer Database (NCDB) guidelines and stays within reporting requirements. Utilizes resources efficiently.Assisting members to meet their responsibilities to present at Cancer Committee meetingsOrganizing Cancer Committee meetings, agendas and minutes Works closely with Breast Program Coordinator to maintain NAPBC accreditation Demonstrates strong leadership skills and good written and verbal communication skills are required. • Must be detail oriented, organized and highly accountable for timeliness and accuracy. • Assists Administrative staff in PAR/SAR completion Other duties as assigned Other information:LINES OF REPSONSIBILITES: (Chain-of-command)1.
