Job Description

Job Title: First Shift Lab Technician Job Description The Lab Technician supports production and quality operations by preparing samples, performing analytical testing, and accurately documenting results in a laboratory and manufacturing environment. This role uses both instrumental and wet chemistry methods, monitors daily processes throughout the plant, and collaborates closely with operations to ensure products meet all quality and regulatory standards. Responsibilities + Prepare process and finished product samples for laboratory testing. + Perform analytical testing using instrumental and wet chemistry methods. + Conduct daily process monitoring tests throughout the plant to support production quality. + Utilize nitrogen headspace techniques and lab-scale sample preparation methods as required. + Maintain retained samples to confirm and verify test results when needed. + Accurately document and report test results, promptly notifying operations of any required process adjustments. + Enter, manage, and maintain data using a Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS). + Develop a strong understanding of production processes and provide quality improvement recommendations to operators. + Perform light maintenance and calibration on laboratory equipment to ensure proper operation. + Maintain ongoing testing records and ensure timely and accurate daily data entry. + Monitor and maintain adequate levels of testing supplies and notify the supervisor when reordering is needed. + Verify equipment accuracy by comparing instrument readouts to known standards. + Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary laboratory and work area. + Follow all safety procedures and complete required safety certifications. + Comply with FDA, GMP, BATF, EPA, OSHA, and internal company standards. + Work collaboratively and maintain effective working relationships with team members across lab and plant operations. Essential Skills + Progress toward a science-related degree, with at least 2+ years completed. + Prior laboratory or plant experience. + Demonstrated strong attendance history and reliability. + Proven safety awareness and adherence to safety procedures. + Experience with laboratory documentation and recordkeeping. + Familiarity with standard laboratory equipment. + Ability to perform instrumental and wet chemistry testing methods. + Ability to accurately enter and manage data in a Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS). Additional Skills & Qualifications + Knowledge of nitrogen headspace techniques and lab-scale sample preparation. + Experience conducting daily process monitoring tests in a production or manufacturing setting. + Experience maintaining and calibrating laboratory equipment. + Understanding of regulatory and quality requirements, including FDA, GMP, BATF, EPA, and OSHA standards. + Strong attention to detail for accurate testing, documentation, and equipment verification. + Ability to collaborate effectively with operations and quality teams to support continuous improvement. Work Environment This role operates in both laboratory and manufacturing settings. You work around standard laboratory equipment and instrumentation while performing analytical tests and process monitoring. The environment requires maintaining a clean, organized, and sanitary workspace and consistently following safety procedures and regulatory standards. You collaborate closely with plant operations and other team members in a production-focused, lab/manufacturing environment. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Winter Haven, FL. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $23.00/hr.
