The OpportunityColumbia University Irving Medical Center (CUIMC) and the Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons (VP&S) is seeking an accomplished academic leader to serve as Vice Chair for Clinical Affairs in the Department of Dermatology.This senior leadership role carries responsibility for the management, administration, and strategic direction of all clinical activities of faculty, residents, and fellows within one of the nation's most respected academic dermatology departments. The Vice Chair will oversee the Department's expanding clinical enterprise while supporting its integrated clinical, educational, and research missions.The Vice Chair will hold an active clinical practice within ColumbiaDoctors, the multi-specialty faculty practice organization of VP&S. ColumbiaDoctors includes more than 2,900 physicians who integrate innovative research with cutting-edge patient care.Working closely with the Department Chair and in alignment with the leadership of Columbia University and NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital (NYP), the Vice Chair will lead implementation of a comprehensive clinical strategic plan focused on growth of ambulatory services and optimization of operational performance.Role and ResponsibilitiesDevelop and implement a vision and strategic plan for the Department's clinical practice within ColumbiaDoctors, aligned with departmental and institutional goals.Oversee clinical service delivery focusing on capacity, efficiency, and quality, while supporting physician and staff professional career development.Identify and develop new clinical programs to enhance growth and expand specialized services.Collaborate with practice administrators and revenue cycle teams to optimize operations and financial performance.Partner with NYP leadership and clinical affiliates, including oversight of the Hospital-sponsored Dermatology Clinic.Strengthen referral networks and interdisciplinary initiatives through partnerships with clinical departments. Work with ColumbiaDoctors leadership on Faculty Practice strategy and advisory panels.Promote a culture of quality, safety, service excellence, high patient satisfaction, and superior clinical outcomes.Maintain an active clinical practice within ColumbiaDoctors.About the DepartmentThe Department of Dermatology at Columbia University Irving Medical Center is nationally recognized for excellence and leadership in clinical care, education, and research. Over the past century, Columbia Dermatology faculty have made transformative discoveries to improve human health, including pioneering work in the use of ionizing radiation, the treatment of syphilis, the use of corticosteroids to treat pemphigus vulgaris, and the fundamental science leading to the development of the antifungal agent nystatin. Photopheresis for cutaneous T cell lymphoma and the use of Janus kinase inhibitors for alopecia areata were invented at Columbia. The Department encompasses clinical divisions of Adult Dermatology, Pediatric Dermatology, Mohs Surgery, and Dermatopathology, as well as ACGME-accredited training programs for Dermatology Residency and fellowships in Pediatric Dermatology, Micrographic Surgery and Dermatologic Oncology, and Dermatopathology.
