This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. The Pharmacy Supervisor at the Central Alabama Veterans Affairs Health Care System (CAVHCS) overseeing outpatient distributive pharmacy services and functions at the highest level of pharmacy practice to provide pharmaceutical care to patients and optimizes pharmacy processes and patient care outcomes. * The Pharmacy Supervisor is responsible for the professional and administrative management of Outpatient and Community Care Network areas in pharmacy service, to include budgetary execution. * Has responsibility for supervising multiple pharmacists and Pharmacy Technicians. * Manages people, maintains effective interdepartmental relations and cooperates with other services to accomplish the medical facility' s mission and goals. * Assists in preparation of national, local and special accreditations of pharmacy service. (Joint Commission, Inspector General Controlled Substance Inspections Drug Enforcement Agency). This includes documentation record updates development of specific training and preparation of staff and compliance of policy and procedures. * Assures the accuracy and appropriateness of drug dispensing and the compounding of medications based on patient history and medication profile review good clinical practice and other pertinent factors. * Documents in the medical record) recommendations) concerns and potential medication related issues to communicate these concerns to other health care providers. * Employs current VA) The Joi n t Commission ( TJC)) Drug Enforcement Agency ( DEA)) Food and Drug Administration ( FDA)) and other research accrediting bodies or authorities to meet standards and/or regulations set forth by these organizations regarding drug distribution) compounding of sterile products) security and inventory management system and procedures i n a pharmacy setting. * Demonstrates the knowledge and ability to assess data reflective of the patients status and interpret the information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to their specific needs and to provide care needed to achieve positive patient outcomes. * Provides medication management of chronic and acute diseases including assessment and therapeutic monitoring, patient education and medication adherence enhancement. * Participates in self-development activities to maintain and increase professional competence.
