Job DescriptionInova Children's is seeking a Specialty Advanced Practice Provider (0.4 FTE) to support the development of our growing Fetal MRI and neurodevelopmental follow-up program. This unique role will focus on building a comprehensive, system-wide approach to the evaluation and management of infants and children at high risk for developmental delays, including those with complex neonatal courses such as NICU graduates and patients with congenital heart disease.Primarily based in the outpatient pediatric rehabilitation setting, this provider will play a key role in delivering longitudinal neurodevelopmental care. Responsibilities include performing standardized developmental assessments, monitoring growth and neurologic progression, identifying early signs of delay, and coordinating early intervention and subspecialty services. Working collaboratively with an interdisciplinary team, the APP will help ensure continuity of care from acute hospitalization through outpatient follow-up, while also supporting families in navigating resources and care plans.This position offers the opportunity to shape and expand a critical program, with potential future involvement in fetal and/or inpatient services. Conducts standardized developmental assessments, monitors growth and neurologic progression, and identifies emerging developmental delays in high-risk pediatric populations. Coordinates early intervention services, subspecialty referrals, and ongoing developmental surveillance to support timely evaluation and treatment. Collaborates with an interdisciplinary team to align care plans, ensure continuity across settings, and support the transition from acute care through outpatient rehabilitation. Guides and educates families on developmental milestones, early identification of delays, and available intervention resources.Minimum Qualifications:Education: Master's in advanced clinical practice or graduate of a post masters certificate program for nurse practitioners, American Association of Colleges of Nursing of the National League for Nursing. For physician Assistants, graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program and certification by National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants.Certification: Basic Life Support (BLS) upon start ACLS, PALSLicensure: Licensed Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner; If Nurse Practitioner: RN Compact License(depending on State of primary residence) AND a license (or eligibility for) as a nurse practitioner or physician assistant in the Commonwealth of Virginia AND a "Practice Agreement" signed by sponsoring/ supervising physician(s), AND a written "Scope of Practice/Protocol" signed by the supervising physician, AND "Drug Enforcement Administration License" (if prescribing controlled substances)Payer Credentialing: Ability to successfully complete the credentialing process by third-party payors and Ability to enrolled as a CMS Medicare/Medicaid payorMedical Staff Credentialing: Successful completion of credentialing for Medical Staff membership and appropriate clinical privileges sufficient to perform all required servicesPreferred Qualifications: Experience working as an advanced practice provider in the NICUAbout UsWe are Inova, Northern Virginia's leading nonprofit healthcare provider.
