Job Description

Summary of Position: The Laboratory Technician is responsible for performing laboratory testing to support hydraulic fracturing operations, including fluid design, water quality evaluation, and troubleshooting. This role provides accurate and timely data to internal and external stakeholders to ensure optimal treatment performance and customer success. Qualifications & Requirements: * Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or related field. * Strong attention to detail and data accuracy. * Ability to follow procedures and maintain documentation standards. * Basic understanding of chemical handling and laboratory safety. * Strong time management and ability to prioritize multiple tasks. Preferred: * Experience with hydraulic fluids or oilfield chemistry. * Experience with ICP-OES, Spectrophotometers, ORP/pH/DO/turbidity meters, particle size analysis/sand sieves, conductivity/TDS meters, IC, auto-titrators, rheometers/viscometers, and friction flow loops. * Understanding of produced water chemistry, treatment challenges, microbiology, geology, and polymer chemistry. * Experience working in a fast-paced, operations-driven environment. * Proficiency in Microsoft Excel. Indicators & Attributes for Success: * Attention to detail * Ability to stay on task and follow through * Safety conscious * Customer/Client focus * Positive attitude * Prioritization & organizational skills * Accountability * Ethical practice * Strong team-player Primary Responsibilities: * Prepare and test fracturing fluids, additives, and water samples under standard and simulated field conditions. * Perform laboratory testing, including (but not limited to): Rheology and viscosity measurements, Friction reduction testing (flow loop), and Water chemistry analysis (TDS, hardness, iron, alkalinity, etc.) * Accurately document, review, and report test results in a timely manner. * Maintain lab equipment, including calibration, cleaning, and troubleshooting. * Follow established SOPs, QA/QC procedures, and safety protocols. * Support rapid-response troubleshooting for field and customer issues. * Assist in the development and validation of new fluid systems and chemical applications. * Maintain organization, cleanliness, and readiness of lab workspace. * Manage sample intake, labeling, and chain of custody. * Communicate effectively with lab leadership, operations, and technical sales teams. * Other Duties: This job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that are required of the employee for this position. Working Conditions/Environment: * Operates in a safety-conscious laboratory environment (indoor and occasional outdoor exposure) * Exposure to chemicals, dust, heat, cold, odors, oil, fumes, and noise * Requires frequent bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, climbing, balancing, lifting, carrying, and reaching with arms, hands, and fingers * Ability to lift up to 50 lbs * May require extended hours or weekend work based on operational demands Salary: $25/HR - $32/HR Compensation for the role will depend on a number of factors, including a candidate's qualifications, skills, competencies, and experience and may fall outside of the range shown.
