Our RGB lighting control software generates revenue through subscriptions, advertising, and virtual currency. We're a fully remote team of 15 with users across US, UK, Germany, Brazil, and beyond.Position OverviewWe have a solid bookkeeper handling day-to-day transactions, but we need an experienced Controller to ensure financial accuracy, establish proper controls, and provide management-level financial reporting. This is a critical hire to build our finance foundation as we scale.ResponsibilitiesGather and organize user feedback to help prioritize feature requests and improvementsReview and audit current bookkeeping for accuracyEstablish proper chart of accounts for our business modelDocument revenue recognition policies for:Subscription revenue (monthly, 6-month, annual plans)Advertising revenue (multiple vendors)Virtual currency (Light Points system)Set up monthly financial close processAssess multi-state tax compliance needsIdentify gaps and recommend improvementsMonthly financial close oversightProduce monthly financial package:P&L, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow StatementBudget vs. Actuals analysisKey metrics dashboardCash flow forecasting (rolling 6-month)Coordinate with tax preparer for quarterly/annual filingsMulti-state sales tax compliance (digital goods)Vendor and contractor payment managementAd-hoc financial analysis and decision supportHelp establish unit economics tracking (CAC, LTV, churn)Qualifications5+ years as Controller at tech/software companiesDeep experience with subscription/SaaS revenue recognition (ASC 606)Experience with virtual currency or in-app purchase accountingMulti-state tax compliance experience (sales tax on digital goods)Expert in QuickBooks OnlineCan produce investor-ready financial statementsStrong written communication (remote team)Gaming or consumer software experience preferredPersonal QualitiesWorked with companies $2-10M revenue rangeExperience with advertising revenue modelsInternational revenue recognition experienceWorked with distributed teams across US/BrazilPrior fractional/consulting experienceWhat We OfferCompetitive hourly rate: $75-150/hour (based on experience)Commitment: 15-20 hours/week, flexible schedulingFully remote, work from anywhereOpportunity to grow with us (potential full-time as we scale)Work directly with CEO on strategic decisionsClean slate to build finance function correctly from the startPhysical RequirementsAbility to travel across the USA for in-person meetings and conventionsAbility to lift 25 lbsMust be legally authorized to work in the United StatesSignalRGB is an equal opportunity employer committed to building a diverse and inclusive team.
