Operator - Enrobing (1st Shift) - Georgia Nut Company Location: 7500 - Skokie, IL 60077 | Type: Full Time | Shift: First Shift | Salary: $18.00 per hour We are looking for an Enrobing Machine Operator to ensure food safety and quality, perform minor preventive maintenance, and participate in timely changeovers. The operator will manage enrobing machines and maintain the enrobing process, following production formulas and customer requirements. Responsibilities Maintain a working knowledge of enrobing operational procedures. Adjust functional devices and control instruments on enrobers and tempering units for proper operation. Determine, via regular inspections, the repair and maintenance necessary to prevent breakdowns. Fill chocolate melters as needed and maintain daily line specification sheets. Make necessary repairs on equipment where maintenance is not required. Assist maintenance and sanitation associates with making equipment or product changeovers. Assist production supervisor with production associate assignments. Ensure lines are in good working order on an ongoing basis and report discrepancies. Understand and complete daily production schedules, monitoring production amounts to meet or exceed scheduled amounts. Ensure all duties are carried out safely and conscientiously. Assist supervisor/lead to ensure associates are properly trained and productive. Ensure raw materials are stocked and rotated properly. Keep work area clean and orderly; maintain department and equipment shut down properly. Ensure product quality conditions and requirements are consistently met and documented per customer requirements. Ensure GMP, including housekeeping and cleanliness practices, is followed. Verify metal detection units functioning properly before/during runs. Maintain a positive attitude and fill out material worksheets and coating material worksheets. Have QA sign off on all product changeovers; turn work order packets to supervisor upon completion. Conduct scrap reporting and daily inventory of big holding tanks. Fill out production reports based on completed quantity information from line lead/packer. Inform supervisor when propane tanks are low and need reordering. Complete labor reports and collect temporary employee labor reports for supervisor. Perform department shutdown procedures. Perform other duties as assigned by lead/supervisor. Physical Requirements Must wear proper personal protective equipment, including uniform, face mask, hair net, latex gloves, bump cap, earplugs, and safety shoes. Will be standing on concrete, bending, stooping, twisting, and turning for extended periods. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds. Required to work weekends during peak season and/or overtime when needed. Knowledge and Skill Requirements High school diploma, GED, or equivalent education. Cooperative behavior with co-workers, supervisors, and managers. Basic math, communication, computer, and problem"‘solving skills. Ability to convert measurements into weight. Knowledge of linear measurement, percentages, and ratios. Ability to communicate in English and work in a fast"‘paced environment. Familiarity with computer systems.
