OverviewField Quality Manager (Wind / Renewables) at IEA Constructors LLC, a MasTec Company. Responsible for serving as the primary onsite quality support to all team members and the crafts by managing the development and implementation of the Site-Specific Quality Plan and by researching/answering questions regarding quality. The Field Quality Manager (FQM) is a member of the project management team, is able to work with minimal supervision and takes the lead role in managing project quality and establishing the expected level of workmanship. This position requires the incumbent to develop thorough knowledge of the project and schedule as they apply to QA/QC.Location, Travel & Project DetailsYou will travel across the US to support renewable projects. This is a traveling position, up to 100% of the time. You may be placed on a project site located in any state. Typical project durations are 8-12 months with designated daily per diem and base pay to support living expenses. A company vehicle and fuel card are provided. MasTec is a Fortune 500 company with a broad national presence and a focus on sustainability and safety.ResponsibilitiesPromote and comply with all Company safety policies and proceduresManage the Site-Specific Quality Plan to ensure products and services meet predefined quality standards and client expectationsRead and understand plans and specifications and interpret them for the fieldDevelop a thorough understanding of contract plans and specifications for assigned workExamine/inspect field conditions, identify problems, and implement corrective actions to improve quality and reduce costsInspect subordinates' work for compliance and guide corrective actions as neededSolicit and evaluate feedback from employees and supervisors to devise and implement quality improvementsMonitor installed equipment or systems to identify hazards and required adjustmentsProduce quality work that meets plans, specifications and industry standardsMaintain knowledge of MasTec Quality Control Manual and supporting proceduresMentor and train QA/QC inspectors as neededPrepare and review the Monthly Project Quality Report with the Site Manager and Divisional Quality ManagerFacilitate Site-Specific Quality Plan implementation and participate in weekly quality status meetingsPlan and perform field inspections and tests aligned with construction scheduleConduct weekly quality audits for each project scopeEnsure timely testing, receipt and interpretation of results to minimize impact from failuresProvide training on project-specific quality processes and requirementsProvide QA/QC input to task planning and, when required, develop written instructions and procedures for project activitiesOrganize and maintain project and corporate QA/QC filesReview/approve third-party test results for project complianceCollaborate with field staff to issue Quality Alerts, nonconformances and corrective actionsCoach Field Engineers on quality requirementsSupport apprentices with coaching and skill developmentOther duties as assignedQualificationsEducation and Work ExperienceAssociate or Bachelor's degree in quality, industrial technology, engineering, construction, welding, or related technical fieldTwo years of quality experience in construction or operations; experience with civil, electrical, or mechanical activities preferredTrade certifications in testing, inspecting, etc. preferredKnowledge, Skills And AbilitiesCommitment to health and safety and adherence to Zero Injury principlesSelf-starter with organizational, managerial and leadership skillsWorking knowledge of construction industry codes (ACI, AWS, ASME, NEC, etc.)Basic knowledge of crafts and their inspection/testing techniquesFamiliarity with quality metrics, lean kaizen, and continuous improvementProficiency with Microsoft Office and quality documentation softwareAbility to read and interpret blueprints, specifications, contracts and regulationsStrong written and verbal communication with stakeholders at all levelsAbility to coach and collaborate to drive quality improvementAbility to interact with owner, owner's representative, and site supervision to achieve quality objectivesAnalytical problem-solving for practical field scenariosWorking EnvironmentExposure to hazards or physical risks on job sites with basic safety precautionsModerate exposure to extremes such as temperatures, dust, fumes, and noisePhysical work including climbing stairs and laddersPhysical Demands & Equal OpportunityMasTec, Inc. is an EQUAL EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY employer.
