We are looking for a Solid Waste Engineer or Civil / Environmental Engineer with solid waste landfill design and/or experience contributing to alternative waste processing and renewable energy projects in waste, including anaerobic digestion and composting facilities to join our team in the US Central Region. Projects envisioned for the employee filling this role include solid waste planning, landfill design, stormwater design, anaerobic digestion, compost systems, and specification development and review; leading client conversations, training staff, or serving as field construction monitor, regulatory reporting and permitting, cost estimate development, and many appurtenant tasks that arise from these projects. Roles and Responsibilities Contract Management: Deliver required outcomes by coordinating activities of subcontractors and suppliers and acting as a primary point of contact while working within an established contract management plan. Improvement/Innovation: Identify shortcomings in existing processes, systems, and procedures, and use established change management programs to address them. Engineering Standards Specification: Carry out a range of activities under the guidance of more senior colleagues to support the drafting of engineering standards and specifications and the evaluation of the effectiveness of those standards. Knowledge Management System: Help others get the most out of knowledge management systems by offering support and advice. Engineering Inspections: Conduct inspections independently or under supervision to evaluate the quality of engineering works and the integrity of existing installations or structures, and make recommendations to senior colleagues on remedial works needed to ensure conformance with specifications and regulatory requirements. Client & Customer Management (External): Help senior colleagues manage client and customer relationships by using relevant sales or client systems. Data Collection and Analysis: Collate and analyze data using preset tools, methods, and formats, working independently. Engineering Drawings: Oversee engineering drawing development to support the communication, evaluation, and implementation of solid waste management solutions. Personal Capability Building: Develop own capabilities by participating in assessment and development planning activities, formal and informal training and coaching; gain or maintain external professional accreditation, where relevant; stay current with technology, regulation, and industry best practices. Project Management: Work within an established project management structure for project delivery while promoting and collaborating across GHD. Research: Carry out a range of research activities either to support others or to fulfill the role's requirements. Qualifications (Education/Experience) A college engineering degree is required. PE registration or ability to obtain PE within 2 years. Minimum two years of consulting engineer experience. Ability and willingness to travel, including some overnights, as needed. Valid driver's license. Ability to conduct site visits and inspections over potentially rugged terrain. OSHA 40"‘hr HAZWOPER training is a plus. Benefits 401(k): Employees are eligible to participate on the first day of the month following 3 months of service. Paid time off - PTO starts at 16 days per year and increases with years of service. Holiday Pay - GHD observes 9 holidays per year. Holiday pay will be based on the regular scheduled time for the employee.
