Job Description

Overview Mechanical Project Designer 1 for IMEG Consultants Corp to work at our Ontario, CA location. May work remotely a portion of each week after an initial period of fully in"‘person work. Responsible for engineering analysis, design, and implementation oversight of mechanical systems for the vertical building industry. Provides training, mentoring, and leads design efforts for low to moderate complexity projects, collaborating with senior staff on larger, higher"‘complexity projects. Responsibilities Use engineering software and tools to create detailed designs, specifications, and calculations in accordance with code requirements and IMEG standards. Interact with clients to understand needs, gather project requirements, and communicate technical information. Build and maintain client relationships. Lead efforts in project planning, budgeting, and scheduling to meet project deadlines and objectives. Document client design decisions and instructions while monitoring project design progress relative to percent complete and fee expended. Analyze engineering problems and propose solutions, collaborating with senior engineers and consultants. Provide in"‘process design reviews of HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection system design, calculations, and specifications. Implement quality control processes to ensure designs meet IMEG quality standards, industry standards, and client requirements. Stay current with industry trends, emerging technology, and best practices in mechanical engineering and contribute to R&D and innovation efforts. Prioritize safety by identifying and mitigating potential safety risks associated with mechanical systems. Collaborate with cross"‘functional teams, including other engineers, architects, and project managers, to deliver integrated solutions that meet project goals and client expectations. Identify potential project problems and seek advice from the project manager. Oversee projects through bidding and construction administration phases. Physical requirements: sit, walk, stand, talk, see, hear, and lift objects up to 25 lbs; occasionally drive, kneel, stoop, crouch, crawl, reach with hands or arms, and pull. Limited travel may be involved within CA to visit clients or job sites, not to exceed 60 days per year; length of a single trip not to exceed 5 days. Qualifications Must have a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field with 3 years of relevant experience in building design consulting. Alternatively, an Associate's degree in Building Information Modeling (BIM), Engineering, or a related field with 7 years of relevant experience in building design consulting or construction industry. Alternatively, a Certificate in Building Information Modeling (BIM), Engineering, or a related field with 7 years of relevant experience in building design consulting or construction industry. Required skills (at least 3 years experience): design techniques, tools, and concepts involved in production of technical plans and specifications; principles in thermodynamics, psychrometrics, heat transfer, and fluid mechanics related to HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems; standard engineering software and tools including HVAC load calculation software and BIM software; MS Office Suite including Excel and Outlook.
