Job Description

Mechanical Project Designer 1 Ontario, CA (may work remotely a portion of each week after an initial fully in"‘person period). Responsibilities Engineering analysis, design, & implementation oversight of mechanical systems for vertical building industry. Train, mentor, lead design efforts (as Project Manager or lead engineer for low to moderate complexity projects) for analysis of HVAC, plumbing, & fire protection systems. Collaborate with senior staff for delivery of larger & high complexity projects. Use engineering software & tools to create detailed designs, specs, & calculations according to code requirements and IMEG standards. Interact with clients to understand needs, gather project requirements, & communicate technical information. Build & maintain client relationships. Lead efforts in project planning, budgeting, & scheduling tasks to meet project deadlines/objectives. Document client design decisions & instructions while monitoring project design progress as related to percent complete & fee expended. Analyze engineering problems & propose solutions. Collaborate with senior engineers & consultants to develop solutions. Provide in"‘process design reviews of HVAC, plumbing & fire protection system design, calculations, & specs. Implement quality control processes to ensure engineering designs & solutions meet IMEG quality standards, industry standards & client requirements. Stay current with industry trends, emerging technology, and best practices in mechanical engineering. Contribute to research & development & innovation efforts. Prioritize safety in all aspects of engineering work. Identify & mitigate potential safety risks associated with mechanical systems. Collaborate with cross"‘functional/multidisciplinary teams, including other engineers, architects, & project managers to deliver integrated solutions for clients and execute consulting projects that meet project goals & client expectations. Identify potential project problems & seek advice from the Project Manager. Oversee projects through bidding & construction admin phases. Qualifications Bachelor's in Mechanical Engineering or a related field; 3 years relevant experience in building design consulting industry; required skills. Alternatively, Associate's degree in Building Information Modeling (BIM), Engineering, or a related field; 7 years relevant experience in building design consulting or construction industry; required skills. Alternatively, Certificate in Building Information Modeling (BIM), Engineering, or a related field; 7 years relevant experience in building design consulting or construction industry; required skills. Required skills (3 years experience) in: design techniques, tools, and concepts involved in production of technical plans and specifications; principles in thermodynamics, psychrometrics, heat transfer and fluid mechanics relating to mechanical design in HVAC, plumbing and fire protection systems; standard engineering software and tools including HVAC load calculation software and BIM software; MS Office Suite including Excel and Outlook.
