CDM Smith's Industrial team is seeking a Building Information Modeling professional with a strong background in substation and energy/power facilities. Responsibilities Prepare basic to highly complex substation construction drawings and 3D models using Autodesk Inventor and intelligent CADD tools, including layout, detail, and assembly drawings for substation equipment, structures, and systems. Translate level of design (LOD) definitions into accurate digital and physical models, applying advanced CADD drafting and design techniques in accordance with firm's CADD Graphics Standards. Incorporate vendor data, catalogs, and technical manuals into Inventor models and construction documents to support constructability and coordination. Perform CADD/technical support tasks such as verifying intelligent model integrity. Acts as Intelligent Modeling Coordinator for basic complexity projects during the project lifecycle to ensure coordination between the design team and adherence to firm's Q/QC standards and procedures. Perform related discipline tasks in support of project engineer, such as reviewing and coordinating specifications, compiling and computing engineering data, initiating basic design tasks, verifying intelligent model integrity, plotting drawings, assembling drawing packages, preparing transmittals, preparing overnight packages, file management and/or filing prints, distributing drawings, making simple calculations. Perform other duties as required. Supports field assignments as required. Minimum Qualifications High School diploma or equivalent with vocational technical training in basic CADD drafting technology and intelligent modeling. 6 years of relevant experience. Equivalent additional directly related experience will be considered in lieu of a degree. Domestic and/or international travel may be required. The frequency of travel is contingent on specific duties, responsibilities, and the essential functions of the position, which may vary depending on workload and project demands. Preferred Qualifications Experience utilizing Autodesk Inventor 3D and Revit. Experience developing and coordinating 3D models for electrical substation components, layouts, and assemblies. Experience supporting clash detection in Navisworks. Experience with constructability reviews, and coordination with mechanical, electrical, structural, and process disciplines. Skills and Abilities Excellent communication skills with strict attention to detail. Demonstrated ability to be a team player and contributor to the overall team. Possesses an advanced working knowledge of core Intelligent Modeling/CADD applications. Ability to apply advanced Intelligent Modeling/CADD drafting design techniques in accordance with the firm's and industry standards and codes. Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office for design related tasks and discipline specific design/analysis software primarily within the Intelligent Modeling/CADD environment.
