OverviewYour Job Georgia-Pacific is recruiting for a Process Engineer to join our Structured Papermaking Technology Platform. The successful candidate will provide technical expertise to TAD and eTAD paper making assets across Georgia Pacific's North America facilities and will work with both hourly and salary employees. This role includes diagnosing root cause of operational issues, leading and assisting local resources in resolution of issues, identifying improvement opportunities through assessments, developing expertise in others, and maintaining knowledge of emerging technologies. This role requires domestic travel on a regular basis. This position will be based at one of the following facilities: Wauna, OR; Zachary, LA (Port Hudson); Crossett, AK; Palatka, FL; or Green Bay, WI, with up to 50% travel between sites and occasional travel to other locations. Our TeamThe Georgia-Pacific Projects and Engineering Team consists of approximately 130 individuals across the United States. We are engineers, project managers, subject matter experts, and designers working with our 22 continuous manufacturing facilities to achieve one team, one vision, one result.What You Will DoWork with hourly and salaried personnel at production sites to identify improvement opportunities for both processes and equipment through site assessmentsReview maintenance and downtime data to identify production equipment that needs repair, replacement, or reconfigurationCoordinate and lead efforts to return asset performance to optimized base case with third party support and internal resources as neededSupport installation, commissioning, and optimization of new assetsAssist asset owners in managing and prioritizing lists of improvement opportunities for their respective assets based on business needWork with Subject Matter Experts and operations personnel within Georgia Pacific to develop standardized operating and maintenance strategies for similar assets and equipmentAssist in planning specific outage activities with operations teams to ensure that desired results are achievedApply Subject Matter Expertise to support short-term technical requests across multiple facilitiesSupport trials of new process technology and equipment and provide assessment of applicability with existing asset baseWho You Are (Basic Qualifications)Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Pulp and Paper Science, Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering3 years of structured base sheet paper machine experience (TAD, NTT, QRT, eTAD, UCTAD, etc.) making tissue or towel in a process engineering, manufacturing engineering or equivalent operations/support rolesKnowledge and expertise in specific paper making equipment and process areas including but not limited to: yankee steam systems, hot air systems, formation and stock preparation, reeling and sheet handling, pressure rolls, and machine clothingAble to read and interpret piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&ID's), layout drawings, and mechanical drawingsCompetency with Microsoft Office Suite; Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.Able to travel up to 50% of the timeAble to work occasional weekends, nights, and holidays when neededWhat Will Put You AheadExperience using PI Process Book or comparable data historian3 or more years of experience troubleshooting and optimizing PLC and DCS control logic including paper machine reels, machine control systems, and burner management systemsExperience using Root Cause Analysis strategies - KT, 5 Why, etc.Experience in a technical design or service capacity related to tissue or towel paper makingAt Koch companies, we are entrepreneurs.
