The successful candidate will be detail-oriented and self-motivated, and will possess excellent follow-up skills.This is a recurring remote role with no guarantee of weekly working hours, as hours will fluctuate based on business needs.You will report to the Copy ChiefWhat You Will DoCopyedit manuscripts (novels, memoirs, and general nonfiction) to ensure sense, continuity, quality of grammar, spelling, and stylePerform proofreading at all book stages to check that changes and corrections have been executed as requestedCreate and update house style guides for authors and staffPlease note that this position does not come with guaranteed hours; work is assigned on a project-by-project basis, as neededRequired Qualifications & Skills3 years' experience as a copy editor in adult non-fiction genreAbility to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and work independentlyCollege-level understanding of literature, grammar, style, and spellingMeticulous attention to detailCapable of working under very tight deadlines, sometimes on short noticeAbility to work with digital documents, using Word and Adobe softwareFamiliarity with Chicago Manual of Style 18th edition, and comfort working with a house style and individual series guidelines and nomenclatureSpanish-language editing skills a plusKnowledge of sports and pop culture a plusAvailability on weekdays, during business hoursAdditional InformationDisney offers a rewards package to help you live your best life.
