Job Title: Radiology Specialist Assistant (Interventional Radiology) Location: Watertown, NY 13601 Start Date: 05/18/2026 Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: 8:00 AM 4:30 PM Job Overview We are seeking a skilled Radiology Specialist Assistant to support Interventional Radiology procedures under physician supervision. This role involves delivering high-quality, patient-centered care across all age groups while assisting with advanced diagnostic and minimally invasive procedures. Key Responsibilities Provide patient care services within scope of practice and approved clinical privileges Perform comprehensive patient assessments using age-specific care principles Assist physicians during interventional and radiologic procedures Ensure efficient patient flow and coordinate daily clinical activities Respond effectively to emergency situations Maintain compliance with hospital policies, regulatory standards, and patient confidentiality (PHI) Procedural Support: Perform fluoroscopic procedures, including barium studies (upper GI, small bowel follow-through, enemas) Assist with and/or perform joint injections under fluoroscopic or ultrasound guidance Conduct paracentesis and thoracentesis procedures Place abscess drains using ultrasound or CT guidance Perform bone marrow biopsies and image-guided biopsies (US/CT) Perform breast biopsies (ultrasound-guided and stereotactic) and marker clip placement Clinical & Operational Duties: Collaborate with radiologists, nurses, and technologists for procedure preparation Prepare and maintain procedure rooms, equipment, and supply inventory Document procedures, imaging findings, and patient outcomes accurately Educate patients, obtain informed consent, and provide pre/post-procedure instructions Ensure adherence to radiation safety and infection control protocols Qualifications Education: Graduate of an approved program recognized by the New York State Education Department Bachelor's degree in Radiologic Technology or a related field required Certifications & Licensure: Current American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) certification in Radiography required Additional certifications (CT, Ultrasound, Interventional Radiology, or RRA Registered Radiologist Assistant) preferred BLS required; ACLS preferred Certification as a Radiologist Assistant (RA) or Physician Assistant (PA) with a radiology focus preferred Additional Requirements Must comply with 100-mile radius rule Strong knowledge of interventional radiology procedures and patient care protocols Excellent communication, organizational, and teamwork skills
