Job Description

The Program Specialist implements assigned health and health professions related programs and projects under the direction of the assigned program manager or program coordinator. Programs and projects include but are not limited to the center's mission of recruiting, training and retaining a rural healthcare workforce. Collecting data regarding the center's programs and projects is required. Work will be done with students, communities, and healthcare professionals, as grants and contracts direct. This is an on-campus position, requiring strong personal communication, problem solving, and critical thinking. This position will have occasional evening and weekend working requirements. This position will require regular in-state travel. This may include occasional overnight stays. A valid driver's license is required. Date of first consideration: 05/02/2026. * Implements existing projects and/or grants related to health profession careers. Provides timely feedback to the Program Manager and Coordinator when concerns or issues arise. Applies appropriate educational, behavioral, and organizational theories to complex problems involving rural healthcare access, delivery, and worker recruitment. * Develops and maintains positive working relationships with internal (SUU) and external partnerships. May participate in coalitions with other organizations or state partners. * Conducts student follow-up and returns email and phone calls promptly. * Assists Program Manager with setting and measuring program outcomes and assessments. * Facilitates activities with student leadership groups. * Completes other assignments assigned by the Executive Director including but not limited to, representing the center at meetings and committees, conducting needs assessments, coordinating with marketing and communications team, and developing community contacts. Minimum Qualifications * Associates degree in Public Health, Sociology, Healthcare Administration, a Health Profession, School Counselor or closely related fields. * Some experience planning, implementing, and/or evaluating health, workforce training, or education programs for youth & adults. * Evidence of setting program goals and achieving SMART objectives. * Demonstrated ability to communicate verbally and in writing. Proofreading, grammar, and technical writing experience is highly desired * Requires proficiency in personal computer skills including word processing, spreadsheets, database, Internet, presentations, and desktop publishing. Preferred Qualifications * 4 Year / Bachelors degree. * Experience advising students for college programs. * Demonstrated ability to work with interdisciplinary healthcare teams. This position is contingent on funding.
