Podiatrist- Surgery Rearfoot/AnkleOverton Brooks VA Medical Center, Shreveport, LAThe Overton Brooks VA Medical Center, Shreveport, LA, has an immediate opening for a full-time, Podiatrist for surgery rearfoot/ankle. Shreveport is situated on the Red River in northwest Louisiana. Commonly known as the 'Ark-La-Tex', the point where Arkansas, Louisiana and Texas meet. The Overton Brooks VA Medical Center is fully dedicated to providing top-quality medical care by serving and honoring America's Veterans.Highlights of this position include:Competitive Starting Salary $230,000 - $250,000 per yearWork Schedule: Mon-Fri, 8am-4:30pm. Performs physical examination, assess, and diagnose foot/ankle pathology of non-diabetic as well as diabetic patients.Provides outpatient and inpatient Podiatry consultation and surgical services such as osseous digital procedures, open management of digital fracture, partial ostectomy/exostectomy, hallux valgus surgery, hallux limitus surgery, as well as a full spectrum of soft tissue foot surgery such as excision of soft tissue tumor, tendon repair, and removal of deep foreign body.Performs selected reconstructive midfoot, hindfoot, and ankle surgery.Performs biomechanical examinations and procedures related to castings, prosthetics, and orthotics. Prescription of pharmaceuticals and therapeutic devices, (orthotics, prosthetics, plaster casts, immobilization devices, etc.).Provides wound care services including debridement of ulcers, nail avulsion, removal of hardware.Provides local care of calluses and pedal ulceration such as deformed, painful and/or infected nails which may result in significant extension of infection, ulceration, disability, or gangrene; particularly in patients predisposed to infection or its extension by systemic disease (diabetes mellitus).Performs appropriate consultation, referral, and co-management of patients with complicated systemic conditions.Provides clinical teaching and coordination of medical educational activities for podiatric students, residents, and staff.Completed, or currently completing, residency training, or its equivalentCurrently hold, or will hold, a full and unrestricted license to practice Podiatry in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States or in the District of Columbia.Degree as a doctor of podiatric medicine, or its equivalent, from a school of podiatric medicine approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs.We offer:Predictable work schedules and a focus on quality rather than volumeAnnual performance bonus up to an additional $15K per yearHealth, Dental & Vision InsuranceMalpractice: Liability protection with tail coverage provided26 days paid vacation; 13 days paid sick time per year w/unlimited carry over; 11 paid holidaysFederal Retirement PlanSeparate 401K with partial agency matchPossible $1,000 per year reimbursement for CME's (must be full-time with board certification)This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), if approvedIf interested, please email a copy of your current CV to me at to schedule a time to discuss this exciting opportunity!
