UIC Science Field Support TechnicianSummary: UIC Science provide field support for scientists, military, and media clients working in and around UtqiaÄ¡vik. UIC Science operates a rental fleet of snowmachines, ATVs, and trucks, as well as three lodging facilities, warehouse/staging space, and laboratory space. The Field Support Technician will work as part of the UIC Science field operations team during peak season to manage fleet rentals, building maintenance, and general support tasks as needed.Essential FunctionsSupporting UIC Science field operations during peak seasonMaintenance and repair of equipment and vehiclesGeneral support of field operationsWorking as part of a teamRecord keeping and note takingOther duties as neededKnowledge and Critical Skills/Expertise:Operating ATVs, snowmachines, and trucksAbility to follow instructions and complete tasks independentlyRequired Experience:Previous maintenance or laborer experience strongly preferredRemote hunting or camping being out on the ice or landPhysical Demands:Must be able to lift up to 50 poundsMust be able to stand and walk for prolonged amounts of timeMust be able to twist, bend and squat periodicallyMust be able to work outdoors in all conditionsUS Fish and Wildlife Service Bear Guard certification strongly preferredAuthorized Driver Requirement Authorized Driver Requirement: Employee must have a valid driver’s license and three (3) year clean driving record.
