Whether it’s designing roads, bridges, or multimodal systems, we ensure our designs are sustainable, cost-effective, and forward-thinking.What You’ll Be DoingAs a valuable part of ourTransportation Business Line, aProject Engineer will work on meaningful community projects across Connecticut, contributing to safer intersections, more efficient roadways, and better multi-modal experiences with responsibilities such as:Prepare traffic operations analyses using Synchro, SimTraffic, and other modeling tools. Develop signal timing plans, intersection improvements, and corridor enhancementsProduce traffic engineering plans, specifications, and cost estimates for signal systems, pavement markings, signing, and intersection geometryAnalyze traffic counts, crash data, speed studies, and travel demand to support planning and design decisionsPrepare technical memoranda, traffic impact studies, safety audits, corridor studies, and feasibility reports for municipal and state clientsPrepare and support state and local permitting efforts, including CTDOT encroachment permits and Traffic Management PlansConduct site visits to observe traffic operations, evaluate existing conditions, and coordinate with survey and design teamsWork closely with roadway, drainage, structural, and environmental teams to support integrated design solutionsSupport junior engineers with technical guidance, reviews, and professional developmentWhat You’ll NeedBachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related fieldLicensed Professional Engineer (PE) - required5+ years of progressive experience in traffic engineeringProven experience with projects in Connecticut (CTDOT)Strong proficiency with traffic analysis and simulation software (e.g., Synchro, VISSIM, HCS)Knowledge of MUTCD, AASHTO, CTDOT, and local municipal traffic design standardsStrong analytical skills, attention to detail, and problem-solving abilitiesExcellent communication, technical writing, and presentation skillsPreferred RequirementsMaster’s degree in Civil Engineering, Transportation Engineering, or a related fieldPTOE (Professional Traffic Operations Engineer) certificationFamiliarity with Complete Streets design principles and multimodal planningExperience working with public agencies and private sector clientsActive involvement in professional organizations (ITE, ASCE, etc.)Your Financial and Wellness BenefitsCompensation is based on skills and experience as reflected in the pay range belowAnnual Bonus, Profit Sharing, and Employee Stock Ownership PlanBest in Class Medical InsuranceDental & Vision InsuranceWellness Rewards and ReimbursementsTuition Reimbursement and Qualified Student Loan Paydown ContributionsReimbursements for Licensure/ Certification Preparation and FeesSummer Fridays Flextime and Hybrid Work EnvironmentPet Insurance and Adoption AssistanceWays to Grow Your CareerWe provide a structured career path with opportunities for professional development through tuition reimbursement, internal training, conference attendance, and professional memberships.
