Job Description We are searching for an elite SQL Server Database Administrator with deep expertise in performance tuning and query optimization for Azure SQL Database. This is not a general DBA role we need someone who thrives on diagnosing bottlenecks, re-engineering queries, and tuning every aspect of database performance until it runs at peak efficiency. The ideal candidate has a proven record of turning slow, resource-heavy systems into fast, lean, and reliable engines using advanced indexing strategies, execution plan analysis, statistics tuning, and Azure-native monitoring and optimization tools. Key Responsibilities: Performance Tuning & Optimization -- u00b7 Analyze execution plans, waits, and indexes to identify performance bottlenecks. u00b7 Optimize queries, stored procedures, and indexing strategies for maximum throughput. u00b7 Implement database partitioning, statistics tuning, and parameter sniffing mitigation strategies. u00b7 Fine-tune Azure SQL resource utilization (DTUs/vCores, IOPS, memory usage). u00b7 Identify and resolve deadlocks, blocking, and excessive I/O or CPU consumption. Monitoring & Diagnostics -- u00b7 Use Azure Monitor, Query Store, Extended Events, and Dynamic Management Views (DMVs) to track performance metrics and detect anomalies. u00b7 Build proactive monitoring dashboards and alerts. u00b7 Conduct periodic performance health checks and optimization cycles. Database Architecture & Maintenance -- u00b7 Advise on schema design improvements for scalability and performance. u00b7 Implement best practices for indexing, partitioning, and table design. u00b7 Manage database security, backups, and disaster recovery processes in Azure SQL. Collaborate with developers to ensure performant SQL code from the start.
