VCA Sacramento Veterinary Referral Center is seeking a skilled and passionate Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) to join our ECC Department in a relief capacity, with a minimum commitment of three shifts per month. The skills that you will be utilizing include, but are not limited to: u00b7 Venipuncture u00b7 Catheter placement u00b7 Radiology u00b7 Anesthesia monitoring u00b7 Physical examinations and patient assessment u00b7 Surgical preparation and assisting u00b7 Laboratory work u00b7 Pharmacy u00b7 Patient recovery u00b7 compassionate care for our hospitalized patient u00b7 Teamwork advocate u00b7 Restraining and assisting in patient exams and routine procedures u00b7 Taking detailed medical histories and patient vitals u00b7 Providing compassionate care for our hospitalized animals u00b7 Assisting our Doctor and Technician staff as needed with patient care u00b7 Maintain accurate and complete medical records u00b7 Helping clients and doctors during humane euthanasia u00b7 Maintain a clean work environment to maintain any infectious disease protocols, handle medical/biomedical and infectious waste appropriately u00b7 Maintain inventory and supplies for procedures and patient husbandry. Requirements: u00b7 Current RVT License u00b7 Excellent communication skills necessary to interact effectively with coworkers, referring veterinarians, clients, and patients; ability to readily learn new procedures, must be adaptable u00b7 Ability to work independently while supporting a busy, high-producing department u00b7 Compassion for pets and people, understanding and respect for othersu2019 choices. u00b7 The ability to lift up to 40 lbs. and be exposed to hazards associated with allergens, contagious diseases, noises, odors, bites, scratches, and animal waste. Schedule: As a relief associate, you will be required to work at least 3 shifts per month.
