WORK SCHEDULE u2022 Full-Time / 40 hours per week u2022 Day Shift POSITION HIGHLIGHTS u2022 Be responsible for 24/7 operations of the assigned Social Work areas at Harborview Medical Center u2022 This position assumes the day-to-day accountability and responsibility for case management support for the departments and for the collaboration with other clinical disciplines to assess and address patient needs and potential discharge barriers u2022 The position interfaces with DSHS, community providers and external vendors for contracted services u2022 Support the advancement of healthcare practices across the medical center emphasizing service excellence, patient safety, staff safety, and organizational integration. PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES u2022 Responsible for effective fiscal management of the Social Work Department. Prepare annual budget and develop strategic department goals incorporating Harborview Medical Center goals and departmental goals as well as teaching and research initiatives. u2022 Select, train, supervise, motivate and evaluate staff to ensure maximum utilization of individuals and group capabilities while providing service to internal and external customers u2022 Maintain knowledge of applicable rules, regulations, policies, laws and guidelines such as the CMS, DOH, and JCAHO that impact the procedure areas and ensures that Harborview Medical Center is in compliance. u2022 Participate in hospital-wide and interdisciplinary committees. u2022 Represent the Department of Social Work's position in Joint Labor Management meetings, collective bargaining, and employee disciplinary activity including grievances, arbitration, and any other union-related activities. Strong candidates will have a demonstrated record of program development and personnel management, administrative experience in an academic medical center and effective management of social work staff in hospital/ambulatory care operations. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills (verbal and written), and be proficient at motivating and leading large groups of people at all levels of the organization, accomplished at leading change, coaching and counseling, workshop and meeting facilitation, skilled in data analysis and interpretation, excels at creating a professional practice environment for the advancement of the social work programs and ensure adherence to hospital and departmental policies and procedures, program development/planning budgetary responsibilities and personnel management. This position is responsible for directing multiple projects simultaneously. REQUIRED POSITION QUALIFICATIONS A Master of Social Work Degree from a program accredited by the Council on Social Work Education AND licensed as a Clinical Social Worker (LICSW) within the State of Washington. Minimum 6-8 years of experience in healthcare operations management at a large academic medical center. Successful track record of effective management/leadership and program management skills ad demonstrated staff development skills. Proficient in Windows-based computer applications and excellent verbal and written communication skills. Must be self-directed and ability to multi-task efficiently and have excellent attention to detail. Knowledge of clinical protocols and practices is required.
