JOB REQUIREMENTS: Position Description: As a Coding Specialist II, youwill perform coding and related duties using established billing officepolicies in an accurate and timely manner. Primary contact withphysicians, department administrators, hospital and/or clinicaldepartment administrators and their support staff and billing staff.Coordinates professional service billings for selected clinicaldepartments. This role is 100% remote for the following states: WI, FL,MN, NC, TN, & TX. Responsibilities: CHARGE PROCESSING Assignment orverification of CPT, ICD-10 CM coding and modifiers based upondocumentation. (Inpatient/Emergency Department abstraction, ambulatorycoding and/or surgical/procedural coding) Resolve edits for electroniccharges, following established policies and procedures to insure thatall data elements (claim requirements - CPT, ICD-10 CM, modifiers,provider, billing area, etc.) are applied. Charge Entry as needed.RECONCILIATION OF CHARGES: Monitor charge flow and act as a liaison withmanagers, department administrators and other billing personnel toassure consistent and accurate charge flow. Work with clinic staff andphysicians regarding missing or unclear information that is required forbilling. CLAIM DENIALS / BILLING ISSUES Identify, report, and resolvecoding and reimbursement issues. Working with physicians, departmentadministrators and other billing office staff, including reimbursementstaff. Identify opportunities to reduce denials and enhance revenue.PROTOCOLS Develop and maintain all protocols related to their assignedareas. PROVIDER EDUCATION Maintain understanding all Teaching Physicianand provider documentation policies. Actively participate in newprovider orientations. Note and address trends in provider documentationthat may impact coding and billing. Knowledge - Skills - AbilitiesWorking knowledge of CPT and ICD-10 CM coding. Understanding of medicalinsurance guidelines and governmental policies. Progressive computerskills. Detail oriented. Ability to establish and maintain effectiveworking relationships with the team and department staff (includingadministrative staff and faculty). Meet or exceed established productionrate and performance standards. Preferred Schedule: Full-time role withexpectations for coverage during core business hours and flexibilityrequired as necessary to accommodate business needs.
