Key Responsibilities: + Interpret and translate between English and one or more foreign languages or dialects (Trigrigna, Amharic). + Deliver professional-level medical interpreting, ensuring Limited English Proficient (LEP) patients receive linguistically appropriate care. + Collaborate with SMC medical personnel to facilitate effective communication. Required Qualifications: + Upon hire: National Certified Medical Interpreter - National Board of Certification for Medical Interpreters Or + Upon hire: Washington Social Services Interpreter - Washington State Department of Social and Health Services + 1 year Interpretation experience in a medical clinic or hospital setting. Preferred qualifications: + Bachelor's Degree + Continuing education and/or training preferred in medical interpretation competencies, translation and medical terminology/phrases. + 3 years Interpretation experience in a medical clinic or hospital setting. + 2 years Experience in translation of English and source language; training and education in translation competencies preferred. Must pass a competency exam and skills assessment. + Professional training in translation or equivalent experience. + TMS Translation memory system (SDL Trados or Memoq) experience. + Experience with Adobe or InDesign. + Prior video interpreting experience. + Experience in training adults.
