Position Overview The Stamford JCC is seeking a dynamic Youth & Camp Coordinator to join our Programming Team and create joyful, supportive, and memorable experiences for children and their families in grades K-8. This position is ideal for an early career professional who wants to work with children and families in a JCC environment and thrives in a high-paced, dynamic direct service setting. The Youth & Camp Coordinator will serve as a professional in the Youth & Family department, reporting to the Director of Youth and Camping and the Associate Director of Youth and Camping. Key Responsibilities Program Development & Execution Assist with the development and execution of all facets of K-8th grade programming, specifically for Day Camps@The J, KidsPlace After School, vacation day and weekend programming, and family special eventsServe as a key member of the Camp Leadership Team for Day Camps@The J, supporting the planning and implementation of all camp programming.Develop and coordinate program opportunities for youth, teen, and tween groups throughout the yearOversee vacation day programming when school is out of session, ensuring continuity of care for families Direct Service & Supervision Serve as a supervisor within KidsPlace After School program, supporting staff and students in grades K-5Provide direct supervision and mentorship to part-time and seasonal staff membersActively participate in activities alongside children, maintaining a hands-on approach to youth developmentEnsure the safety, health, and welfare of all program participants by maintaining high standards in all activities Operational Coordination Coordinate both operational and programmatic elements within KidsPlace After School and Day age-appropriate group assignments and manage daily schedules for programsFacilitate timely communication between participants, parents/guardians, and staff to resolve issues that ariseMaintain program records, track participation, and support program evaluation efforts Team Collaboration & Leadership Work collaboratively with the Youth Programming Team, which oversees Day Camps@The J, KidsPlace After School, enrichment classes, major events, and holiday programsSupport staff training initiatives and participate in ongoing professional development opportunitiesAccept additional assignments as given by the Associate Executive Director or CEO of the JCC Minimum Qualifications: Required Qualifications Experience & Education 1-3 years of experience working with school-age children in formal or informal settings (camp, after-school programs, youth organizations) 1+ year(s) of experience managing and/or developing children's programmingBachelor's degree in Recreation, Education, Child Development, or related field preferred[ Essential Skills & Attributes Highly organized and process-oriented with the ability to be both focused and flexible in dynamic environmentsExcellent communication skills including listening, written, and verbal communication abilitiesWarm, cheerful, patient, and nurturing personality with genuine enthusiasm for working with childrenAbility to work effectively with diverse groups of children, families, instructors, educators, and co-workersFlexible, mature, and responsible approach to professional responsibilitiesSelf-motivated team player ready to contribute to a vibrant and busy environment Physical & Certification Requirements Current CPR, First Aid, and AED certification for adults/children/infants (or willingness to obtain before start date) Ability to actively participate in physical activities with children, including swimming and outdoor recreationCapability to work in various indoor and outdoor environments across the JCC's 15-acre campus Salary: $45,000 - $55,000 Agency Information: The Stamford Jewish Community Center is a cultural, educational and recreational center, offering exceptional programs, classes and special events designed to enrich the mind, body and spirit.
