PRIMARY FUNCTIONReporting to the Director of Finance (DoF), the Government & Foundation Contract Accountant will be responsible for the management and reporting of a $4.3M portfolio of government awards and $1M in foundation and UJA collaboration with the DoF, the Government & Foundation Contract Accountant will be managing and improving the contract development/documentation/ invoicing process and improve timely workflows deliverable submission to funders. Key highlights of the role include pre- and post-award management of grant funding, timely invoicing supported by the general ledger, analysis, and timely communication of over/underspending, supporting program staff in properly monitoring contract spending and leading government funder audits.KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITYGrants ManagementResponsible for end-to-end grants management process to include all pre-and post-award activitiesManage the contracting process among various stakeholders to bring grants online, follow funder guidelines, budget preparation in collaboration with program staff and coordinating online/paper submissionsMaintain contract documents and related materials in an orderly and organized manner in a file directoryAddress funder inquires and follow through on open items in a timely and comprehensive fashionPrepare monthly/quarterly financial and reimbursement reports to various funders ensuring accuracy and consistency with the general ledgerWork with funders to troubleshoot and solve issues with reimbursement claim and disallowancesCoordinate meetings with Program managers to discuss status of budget vs actual and action planningProvide detailed monthly/quarterly analysis of budget vs actuals to properly manage and communicate over/underspending of grant fundsWork with DoF and program staff to coordinate budget modification submissions to ensure revenue maximization across grant fundingRecord and maintain all Accounts Receivable related to grants billing and ensure revenue recognition is in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)Follow up with funders to ascertain status of reimbursementProvide anticipated reimbursement data to DoF to assist in cash flow planningPerform grant closeout functions required by funders to include reconciliations, financial status reports, final invoices, purchase order liquidations and balancing budgetsMaintain funder equipment inventory list as requiredStay abreast of changes in funder's invoicing and reporting requirements; attend funders trainings and informationals as neededEstablish relationships with funders (mainly fiscal counterparts)Coordinate activities between Payroll Manager & Accounting department to make necessary adjustments in personnel allocations for contract billing/voucheringAssist with time and effort reporting, ensuring completeness, accuracy, and compliance with all applicable regulationsWork with DoF to meet all funder and departmental deadlinesSupport the annual agencywide audit to include the Federal Single AuditPrepare supporting schedules related to functional area and assist in providing documentationParticipate fully in government funding auditsPerform other related duties as assignedAuditSupport the annual agencywide audit to include the Federal Single AuditPrepare supporting schedules related to functional area and assist in providing documentationParticipate fully in government funding audits Minimum Qualifications: DESIRED EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONSBachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration preferredMinimum of - 2 years hand on experience working with government grants required.Experience working with various government agencies on the Federal, State and NYC level (USDHS, NYSOFA, SED, DYCD, DOHMH, DFTA)Experience with MIP & government agency submission portals (HHS Accelerator; PASSPort, GrantsGateway) preferred.Strong verbal, written, communication and documenting skillsAbility to work cooperatively with all levels of employees, management, and external partiesAbility to prioritize, multi-task, and work in a fast-paced environmentExcellent attention to detail, problem solving, & analytical skillsMust be a self-starter, quick learner, assertive, and can work independently yet collaborativelyJob Type: Full-timeFull Benefit Package ProvidedOnsite Position Salary: $65,000 - $75,000 Agency Information: The Shorefront YM-YWHA of Brighton-Manhattan Beach, Inc.
