We are currently seeking candidates for the position of Site Safety & Health Officer. This position is 100% field based. (IIF?) safety management program is integrated into all aspects of the Company’s culture. The Company’s commitment to the IIF? culture promotes a work environment where employee safety is paramount.Responsibilities:Implement and support the project site safety, health, and environment requirements put forth in the Company’s Safety Management Program.Guide and support the Project Management Team in all aspects the company’s safety culture of Incident & Injury (IIF) throughout the project.Need working knowledge of the contract specifications and support the project with the execution of all safety, health, and environmental issues.Monitor onsite construction activities through audits and observation, documenting deficiencies, and corrective actions.Participate in project progress meetings and stay abreast of task scheduling to ensure that potential workplace hazards are discussed and safe work practices planned.Assist and guide Site Supervisors in preparation and execution of education and training of safety work practices.Prepare a weekly safety report summarizing your daily activities, training and near miss and incident summary.Conduct new hire safety orientations, familiarization walk-a-rounds (vessel and project) and assist with implementation of the ‘Green Hat’ training program.Participate in pre-shift meetings and conduct/review site hazard assessments with both crew and project management.Liaise with the appropriate Division Safety, Health & Environmental Manager, as necessary, to address project safety, health, and environmental compliance issues.Requirements:Must have knowledge of OSHA and ANSI rules and regulations for construction.Bachelor’s degree in safety, occupational health, or related field.Able to research and interpret federal, state, and local rules, regulations and law pertaining to safety and environmentalMinimum of five years of experience in construction safetyMust have OSHA 30 training certificateAbility to coach and influence project team in safety management.Effective public speaking and presentation skills, initiative, communication, problem-solving, and leadership skills.Active listening skills and effective communication, including openness to diverse input and feedback.Proficient in Microsoft Office and pertinent safety-related software programs.Valid driver’s license required.Valid TWIC card.BenefitsCompetitive salary and bonus program.401(k) program that includes 100% company matching of the first 6% of employee contributions with immediate vesting.Annual profit-sharing contributions by the company to participants’ 401(k) accounts based on company’s annual performance.Medical, Dental, Prescription, Vison, Life and Disability insurance plans.Great Lakes Dredge & Dock Company is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
