Unarmed Security Guard (part time) McAllen, TX Rotating Schedule-open availability Mon-Sun 7am-4pm/3pm-12am $12/hour Job Description: Position Overview:As an unarmed security guard at the immigration center, you will play a crucial role in maintaining a safe and secure environment for staff and visitors. Your primary responsibility will be to monitor and safeguard the premises, deter unauthorized access, and respond promptly to any security incidents or emergencies. Key Responsibilities: Surveillance: Conduct regular surveillance of the immigration center to detect and deter any suspicious activity. Access Control: Control access to the facility by screening visitors, verifying identification, and enforcing entry procedures. Ensure that only authorized personnel are allowed entry into restricted areas. Security Screening: Perform security screenings of individuals and belongings entering the immigration center to prevent the introduction of contraband or prohibited items. Emergency Response: Respond quickly and effectively to security incidents, emergencies, or disturbances within the facility. Take appropriate action to de-escalate situations and maintain order. Communication: Maintain clear and professional communication with fellow security personnel and immigration center staff, as needed. Report any security concerns or breaches to the appropriate authorities. Customer Service: Provide courteous and helpful assistance to visitors and staff members. Address inquiries, provide directions, and offer support as required while adhering to facility policies and procedures. Assist with maintaining the center clean and organized during shift Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent. Previous experience in security, law enforcement, or a related field is p. Must possess excellent observational skills and attention to detail. Strong communication and interpersonal abilities. Ability to remain calm and composed in high-pressure situations. Basic proficiency in computer usage and report writing. Physical fitness and the ability to stand or walk for extended periods. Must pass a comprehensive background check and drug screening. Bilingual (English & Spanish) required Additional Requirements: Valid state security guard license or certification is a plus Completion of required training courses, including first aid, CPR, and de-escalation techniques is a plus Flexibility to work various shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
