Job Description

The Richardson Design Center (RDC) is an interdisciplinary center in the College of Health and Human Sciences that is housed in Nancy Richardson Design Center building. The RDC seeks applications for Fall , Spring , and Summer open instructor positions to teach in the Interdisciplinary Design Thinking Program as temporary, part-time instructor positions in face-to-face and online courses; and/or to oversee Lab Technicians in our Fabrication Labs. The RDC is home to the Undergraduate Design Thinking Certificate, the Interdisciplinary Minor in Design Thinking, and the Graduate Certificate in Design Thinking Strategies and Technologies.Courses in the Design Thinking program(s) include: IDEA , Designing Your Life With Social Impact IDEA , Introduction to Design Thinking IDEA / A-Q Design Thinking Toolbox Series with topics including Paper Products, 3D Modeling, Digital Imagining, Foundations, and Advanced Wood Working, Foundations and Advanced Textiles, Infographics, Mixed Reality Design, Foundations, and Advanced Metal Fabrication, Graphic Noveling, Technical sketching and illustration, Creating Things That Think, Participatory Design Practices, Post-Digital Imaging, Low-Fidelity Prototyping, and 3D Animation IDEA level courses include our Design Thinking Collaborative, Group Study, and Internship IDEA level courses (taught face-to-face and online) include Processes and Methods of Human Centered Design Thinking, and IDEA level courses (taught online only) include Mixed Reality (XR) for Design Thinking Trends, Storytelling, Inclusive Design, Data Visualization, Application Prototyping, and Serious Games. Conditions of Employment Pre-employment Criminal Background Check (required for new hires) Required Job Qualifications Bachelors Degree with at least 2-years industry experience in an appropriate discipline is required to teach in level IDEA courses Masters Degree or in an appropriate discipline is required to teach in level IDEA courses Preferred Job Qualifications Demonstrated success developing and teaching university and/or professional development courses Academic and/or professional experience using design thinking processes and methods
