PURPOSE Provides support to all employees in accordance with the Credit Unions established policies, procedures, and core values. In order to achieve the objectives of the Credit Union these responsibilities shall be executed promptly, courteously and accurately. FUNCTIONS Responsible for member marketing of the Credit Union and having knowledge of all services offered to a degree that will enable answering questions, or referring members for specific services. Responsible for completing the applicable daily tasks in the absence of the Accounting Clerk. Assists with preparation of quarterly regulatory financial statements and accompanying schedules. Manages the procedures and processes for Alaska Housing Finance Corporation tasks. Responsible for reconcilement and accounting entries for assigned general ledger accounts. Assists with maintaining Fixed Assets and Prepaids on the Symitar system, which includes reconciling the subsidiary records on a monthly basis. Assists with the monthly financial close process. Support Budgeting and forecasting processes, including variance analysis and recommendations. Responsible for assisting other departments with accounting functions as needed. Responsible for record keeping and financial reports for Alaska CU Lending Services and Mat Valley Financial Services and MVFCU Charitable Foundation. Collaborate with the Accounting Manager and the Accounting Clerk in regard to the assigned accounting functions of the Accounting Department. Collectively it is the responsibility of the Accounting Department to complete the functions below: o Employee payroll and benefit accounting processes o Processing accounts payable. o Assist in the research of deposit corrections for Fed Adjustments. o The preparation of daily cash management and forecasting reports and procedures. o Preparing income statement budget worksheets monthly. o Review blank GL comments and GL exception reports daily. Ensure accounting processes and reporting comply with NCUA, GAAP, and other applicable regulators. Assists with internal and external audits, regulatory exams, and ensures timely resolution of findings. Projects a professional and positive image of the Credit Union through personal grooming, dress, and behavior. Actively contributes to the success of the Credit Union by working positively within the department and with co-workers. Prepares and presents miscellaneous financial reports or tasks for Accounting Manager and VP of Finance and Accounting. Performs other duties as assigned. AUTHORITY The incumbent is authorized to take any action to carry out the responsibilities assigned by the Accounting Manager, so long as such action does not deviate from established policies and represents sound judgment; except for specific limitations placed on the incumbents authority by specific assignments to other personnel. PREREQUISITES FOR THE POSITION Minimum Education: College graduate with a B.S. or B.A. in Accounting. Prior experience with MVFCU may be considered in lieu of the above education. Minimum Experience: Minimum of two years accounting experience. Accounting experience at a financial institution is preferred. Must have knowledge of accounting and financial reporting. Highly desirable: CPA. Prior experience with MVFCU may be considered in lieu of the above experience. Personal Characteristics and Skills: Must be of the highest integrity, with personal habits above reproach. Must practice confidentiality. Must be a mature person with sound judgment. Must have the ability to meet and work effectively with people of varying levels of education and experience, and be able to communicate, both written and orally, with same. Must have a high degree of self-motivation, accuracy and organizational skills. Technical Skills: Must include prior training or performance of operating a calculator, computer, word processor at an accurate level of 45wpm, and have working knowledge of S Office Software. Working Conditions: Continuous alertness, precision and concentration to ensure accuracy and thoroughness of documents and transactions. Frequent performing basic numeric calculations, as well as writing and reading. Continuous use of initiative, ingenuity, and creativity in identifying employee/member needs, solving employee/member problems. Continuous memory demands in recalling Credit Union policies and services. This position may require extended or irregular hours and may require travel.
