CVP is seeking a Travel Histology Technicians to join our team in providing our Nation's Veterans with essential laboratory services at the VA Central California Health Care System (VACCHCS) in Fresno, CA. This is a full-time position working Monday through Friday, 6:00 AM - 2:30 PM.Weekly Pay:$2,399.06 ($31.31/hr W2 + per diem 1,146.66)Heath & Wellbess Beneft: $5.09/hr (Can opt to receive as cash in lieu of benefits)Contract: Current - February 2026Perform routine and complex histological procedures for the VA Pathology & Laboratory Medicine ServiceReceive and accession specimens from various locations including surgery, outpatient clinics, and emergency departmentPrepare technically adequate slides of tissue sections by processing tissue blocks, embedding, cutting, staining, and cover slippingDeliver prepared slides to the pathologist for diagnosisPerform needle biopsies and frozen section procedures as neededAssist with autopsy procedures, including preparing the body for dissection, making initial cavity incisions, dissecting and removing tissueWeigh and record tissue weights and sizes, preserve tissue for microscopic examinationObtain specimens for microbiologic culturesClose incisions and prepare the body for delivery to the mortuaryMaintain the histology laboratory in an orderly fashionFile blocks and slides in accordance with established protocolsComply with all VA directives, The Joint Commission standards, and American Hospital Association standardsProcess incoming consults following standardized proceduresMaintain patient confidentiality and adhere to privacy regulationsAbility to successfully undergo a Government sponsored background investigation (US Citizenship Required)Current Medical Technologist/Clinical Laboratory Scientist licenseHistology Technician certification/experienceAbility to speak, understand, read, and write English fluentlyProficiency with laboratory information systemsKnowledge of laboratory safety procedures and protocolsExperience with tissue processing, embedding, sectioning, and staining techniquesBasic Life Support (BLS) certification (can be obtained upon hire)Preferred Qualifications:Prior experience in a VA hospital settingPrior experience with VA laboratory information systemsExperience with specialized staining techniquesLocation: Fresno VA Medical Center, Pathology & Laboratory Medicine Service, 2315 E.
