Dearborn St., Chicago, IL 60601POSITION SUMMARY:The Part-Time Custodian is responsible for all daily cleaning of theGoodmanTheatre as well as assigned event setups. This individual interacts withdiversegroups of employees and helps to support the Goodmans artistic work.This is aunique opportunity to join a well-structured program and collaboratewith aversatile facilities team in fulfilling the Goodmans mission.RESPONSIBILITIES:Clean, sanitize and disinfect as assignedFollow daily, weekly, and periodic cleaning schedulesCollect and remove garbage and recycling from all areas of the buildingEnsure restrooms are properly suppliedSweep, dust, mop, scrub, or strip/apply new finish, and buff/burnishfloorsVacuum and spot clean carpetsPerform minor maintenance and repairs to custodian equipmentOrganize and maintain cleanliness of custodial closetsPerform event setup, tear down, and cleaning as neededPerform snow and ice removal when necessaryQUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:Ability to operate carpet cleaning, floor polishing, and snow removalequipmentMust be willing to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends,and some holidaysPhysical ability to perform work assignments including the ability tomaneuver at least 50 lbs.Knowledge of proper cleaning product useAbility to organize and prioritize workAbility to read and interpret product safety labels, writteninstructions, anddiagramsMust be able to communicate effectively with customers and teammembersMS Office software program experience preferredTheatre or Live Entertainment Venue experience beneficialUpdated: 10/15/2025Experience in commercial cleaning and sanitizing practices preferredPrevious custodial experience in a large, commercial space preferred,butnot requiredExperience with a wide range of custodial equipment preferredModel Behavior and values consistent with The GoodmansCommunity Agreements and furthering The Goodmans IDEAA(Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, Anti-Racism and Access) goals.BACKGROUND:Chicagos theater since 1925, The Goodman is a not-for-profit arts andcommunity organization in the heart of the Loop, distinguished by theexcellence and scope of its artistic programming and communityengagement.
