Job Description

Summary: The Cake Designer is responsible for executing creative and artistic cake designs of quality and high volume to highlight DecoPac products. Responsibility: Design and decorate high-quality, high-volume cakes in a production environment. Provide thought leading design ideas to grow category and implement new programs within customer accounts. Design Licensed Cake designs for customer presentations and licensor approval. Independently researches current cake design trends to define concepts for seasonal, everyday, and new décor implementation programs. Build strong working relationships with all internal and external contacts. Collaborate with other team members and departments. Help prepare for buyer meetings, training sessions and/or large customer meetings. Use photography equipment, process images, and learn photography techniques. Continue to build knowledge of decorating techniques and continuing professional development. Ability to write step by step instructions on how to decorate cakes, how to use PhotoCake® and how to execute on specific programs being launched within each account. Base ice both Real and Styrofoam Cakes. Use Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, and PowerPoint to build presentations and help with projects for customers. Wash dishes, clean station/tools and keep work area clean. Work with new decorators when needed. Maintain inventory control of products within office. Make deliveries to other supplier offices as well as Walmart or Sam’s Club home office. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications: 3-5 years of experience cake decorating and/or related field. Precision cake icing and decorating technique skills. Ability to decorate cakes for final photography (camera-ready design) used in publications. Experience mixing icing color(s) and experience with various icing and piping techniques. Current cake trend design and food styling knowledge and experience. PhotoCake® experience is strongly preferred. Ability to self-motivate and work independently but also able to collaborate and work well within cross-functional teams. Follow direction from account managers and cake design team supervisor. Be able to voice opinions, ideas and concerns respectfully. Willingness to learn new processes, engage in ideation sessions and flexibility to new changes in the business. Conduct themselves in a professional manner while always showing integrity. Passion for the business with a strong sense of urgency and thorough follow through. Great organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple projects at one time. Highly detail oriented. Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills (Including verbal/written skills). Strong critical thinking, problem solving and time management skills with proven ability to make decisions. Computer knowledge with the ability to display a high aptitude for understanding and utilizing technology within the business. Possess a knowledge of office operations (Experience in Microsoft 7 Professional- Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook) with strong typing aptitude. Physical and Mental Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, talk and/or hear, use hands to handle, or touch objects, tools, or controls. The employee is required to stand, and/or walk for extended periods of time. The employee must be able to lift up to 30 lbs. occasionally. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
