About this rolePosition: Buyer - Industrial Automation GroupLocation: Hybrid - Columbus, OHJob Summary:We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Buyer to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for managing supplier relationships, processing purchase orders, and ensuring the timely and cost-effective procurement of materials and services. The ideal candidate is organized, analytical, and able to balance multiple priorities while maintaining strong communication with vendors and internal teams. This position plays a key role in supporting operational efficiency, cost control, and customer satisfaction within a fast-paced industrial distribution environment.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Develop and maintain effective relationships with vendors and suppliersMonitor supplier performance in terms of quality, cost, and deliveryReview and analyze purchase request reports and generate purchase ordersEnsure timely delivery of items and follow up with vendors on late ordersResolve invoice discrepancies with vendorsMaintain accurate records of purchases, pricing, and other important dataPrepare reports on purchase activity and supplier performanceTimely processing and communication of all inquiries, quoting andKnowledge of account requirements and special situations; the ability to get results forGain specialized knowledge about our products andMaintain knowledge of and utilize vendor portalsMaintain appropriate record keeping in ERP and CRMGather and provide information to sales and management teamWork cooperatively with other associates and departments; be a TeamProvide assistance with shipment issues; resolve product related problemsBe familiar with approved list of suppliers for goods and servicesInternal and external collaboration on quotes for products/services with customers/outside sellersAny other tasks as assigned by lead/manager.QualificationsBachelor's Degree or equivalent from a four-year College or Technical school; or High School Diploma with three (3) years related experience.Required experience working within an ERPPreferred experience and knowledge of industrialPreferred experience working in supply chain and logisticsExcellent communication, negotiation, analytical and problem-solving skillsStrong knowledge of purchasing principles and proceduresDetail oriented, including accurate data entry skillsCapable of working independently, as well as a team memberInteract with co-workers with a positive attitude to maintain a friendly and productive work environmentMust be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams)Ability to understand written and oral English and be proficient with computer, email, spreadsheets and look up documents onlineAbility to meet the physical requirements of the jobAbility to work in environments that may include:Moving mechanical partsFumes or airborne particlesPainting chemicals and solventsElectrical equipmentPhysical DemandsThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
