With physicians in more than 100 specialties, award-winning hospitals, stand-alone emergency departments, urgent care locations and more, the healthcare system attracts patients from across the state, region and nation.Learn more about Baptist Health | Learn more about Orlando HealthResponsibilities of Medical Lab Technicians Include, But Are Not Limited To:Performs andreportsroutine laboratory testing following established policies and procedures to ensure the highest quality of laboratory results within establishedtimeframes.Verifies results and quality control data for accuracy and reliability.Performs, evaluates, and documents all quality control, preventive maintenance and troubleshooting procedures.Demonstrates computer systemproficiencyincluding ordering, resulting, and inquiry functions.Ensures properutilizationand preparation of reagents and supplies.Communicates critical results to the patient caregiver.Regularly reports all unusual findings to the immediate supervisor.Regularlyreportswork activities and pending work to the oncoming technologist.Maintainsreasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent withBaptist Health andOrlando Health policies, the ADA, FMLA and other federal,stateand local standards.Maintains compliance with allBaptist Health andOrlando Health policies and procedures.Assumes one or more of the following responsibilities under the supervision of the Medical Technologist or Team Leader: supply/reagent ordering or preparation, primary operator of minor instrumentation, projects, or teaching/training.Performs specimen collection procedures, specimen receiving and processing asrequired.Answers the telephone and greets guests to the department.Maintains current job knowledgein order toeffectively instruct students or other personnel.Responsible for an active role in the laboratory quality improvementprogramincluding performance and evaluation of key quality indicators.Followsthe establishedpolicies and procedures to meet regulatory and accrediting agency requirements.Practices infection control and safety practices and keeps a clean and organized work area.Maintains confidentiality of patientrecord, hospital and departmental matters at all times.Perform other duties as directed under supervision of Medical Technologist or Team Leader.MLT Education/TrainingGraduate from an approved school of medical laboratory technician. Associate degree in related field.MLT Licensure/Certification Current license as a Clinical Laboratory Technician as required by the Alabama Department of Health.
