Job Description

Shipping & Receiving Specialist - Local Precision Machine Shop (Sarasota, FL) Pay Rate: $22-$25 per hour (based on experience) Schedule: Full-time, Monday-Friday Overview: A high-volume precision machine shop is seeking a hands-on, detail-oriented Shipping & Receiving Specialist who can take ownership of this critical department. This individual will be trained by the current lead but will work independently most of the time. The ideal candidate is highly organized, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and takes pride in accuracy and accountability. Key Responsibilities: Manage all aspects of incoming and outgoing shipments, including preparation, packaging, labeling, and documentation. Coordinate with carriers and internal teams to ensure on-time deliveries and accurate recordkeeping. Receive incoming raw materials and parts, verify counts and quality, and ensure proper storage or routing. Handle outbound orders, often multiple shipments for the same client with staggered release schedules. Track and manage materials going out for plating and certifications, ensuring proper follow-up and documentation upon return. Lift and move materials weighing up to 50 lbs multiple times throughout the day. Maintain an organized, efficient workspace and stay proactive during slower periods by assisting with related production tasks (e.g., deburring parts, material staging). Verify certifications, packing slips, and documentation accuracy before shipment. Contribute to continuous improvement by identifying process efficiencies and helping refine workflow in the department. Requirements: Minimum 2 years of shipping/receiving or warehouse experience (manufacturing or machine shop preferred). Must be extremely detail-oriented and self-motivated with strong organizational and time management skills. Comfortable working independently with minimal supervision once trained. Must be able to lift 50 pounds repeatedly — physical ability will be verified during the interview process. Basic computer skills for data entry and documentation (experience with ERP or proprietary production systems preferred). Reliable, punctual, and able to thrive in a structured yet dynamic environment. Why This Role: This is a great opportunity to join a reputable local precision machine shop known for its high standards and fast-paced workflow. You’ll play a key part in ensuring product flow and customer satisfaction while being trusted to manage your own department.
