The DPS will work closely with the Director and Deputy Director of Communications, the Digital Director, other OAG members of the Press Office, and OAG staff from other bureaus/departments to develop and execute effective communication strategies. The DPS must develop and maintain relationships with the press and other media. Daily responsibilities of the DPS will include working with the Director of Communications, OAG Executive Division staff, OAG legal bureaus, and the OAG web team on internal communications materials; interacting with reporters in the New York Legislative Correspondents Association; and drafting, reviewing, and editing press releases, advisories, and other relevant materials. The DPS will also assist with drafting, reviewing, and editing internal communications including email updates, newsletters, memoranda/reports, and intranet content. This position may also supervise staff as assigned. This position reports to the Deputy Director of Communications and is located in the Albany office. Minimum Qualifications Qualifications:u2022 A minimum of four (4) years of experience in media relations, communications, or a related field demonstrating an increasing scope of work and responsibility is required.u2022 Prior New York state press experience and/or prior government communications experience is strongly preferred.u2022 Excellent verbal and written communication skills.u2022 Ability to work in a dynamic environment and manage shifting deadlines and multiple priority assignments effectively.u2022 Ability to work well independently and as a productive member of OAGu2019s Press Office and wider Executive team.u2022 Highly collaborative with strong interpersonal and relationship management skills. u2022 Fluency in other languages is a plus but not required.u2022 Availability for periodic travel within New York state is required. Additional Comments The annual salary for this position is $91,926.
