Consider joining Metal Exchange as a Logistics Coordinator at our St. Louis, MO Global Headquarters.The Logistics Coordinator is responsible for executing the customer service, transportation, and contract administration elements of the business unit. This role functions in a fast-paced, demanding environment to ensure business unit objectives and customer requirements are met or exceeded. Excellent organizational skills, time management, and attention to details are essential to be successful in this position.Responsibilities of the Role:Provides timely, consistent communication with internal/external stakeholders (business units, customers, suppliers, carriers) to ensure accurate shipment processing.Resolves shipment issues (e.g., delays, rejections) promptly with customers.Builds and maintains relationships with customers, suppliers, vendors, and carriers; manages carrier performance.Dispatches metal shipments per customer requirements; monitors for scheduled pickups/deliveries.Requests and negotiates optimal lane rates from carriers and drayage providers.Collaborates with Credit Department to monitor shipment volumes against credit limits.Applies and settles purchase/sale contract shipments, incorporating financial/physical risk management.Processes shipment details in IT system: selects contracts/inventory, documents details, records weights and information from suppliers.Generates documentation (dispatch sheets, packing lists, invoices) to support cargo movement and customer needs.Partners with ME business units to manage inventory and contractual metal positions.For international shipments: Reviews/manages import documents (invoices, bills of lading, customs declarations, shipping records) for accuracy, completeness, and regulatory compliance; verifies commercial/Customs entries.Coordinates with Customs Brokers/Forwarders for timely document filing and import clearance.Ideal Candidate Will Have:Education Bachelor’s degree or equivalent transportation experienceExperience1-3 Years in Customer Service, preferably in a logistics/transportation environmentWill consider entry level candidates completing degree programsRequired Skills and AbilitiesCustomer Focus: Meets customer needs; understands action impacts on relationships; actively listens and responds professionally; upholds communication standards; fosters loyalty.Interpersonal Communications: Delivers clear, concise, business-appropriate messaging; actively listens; open to differing views; aware of verbal/non-verbal cues.Organization & Priority Setting: Prioritizes high-value tasks; juggles projects with organized, accessible documentation; meets deadlines; swiftly adapts priorities and reallocates resources.Results Oriented: Aligns with goals and pursues them diligently; initiates productivity improvements; acts promptly; overcomes barriers.Problem Solving: Probes root causes; develops and assesses short-/long-term solutions; presents issues with fixes; consults experts as needed.Functional Skills: Basic logistics knowledge with ongoing learning.Microsoft Office Proficiency: Skilled in Excel for data tracking and analysis; familiar with Outlook for efficient email/project management.Perks of the Job:Medical, dental and vision insuranceDisability and life insurance401(k) with matching contributionGenerous allotment of paid vacation and paid holidaysNEW!
