Our state-of-the-art facility is equipped with advanced technology, including ultrasound, video endoscopy, CT scanning, and chemotherapy services, allowing us to offer comprehensive and compassionate specialty care.As our Internal Medicine service continues to grow, we’re seeking a dedicated Outpatient Technician to support a new Internist joining our team.Position Overview:The purpose of this position is to ensure quality care for pets and promote greater efficiency by relieving veterinarians of technical and administrative work. The Outpatient Veterinary Technician performs a variety of patient and client-care duties and conducts patient assessments and performs procedures and treatments. This person communicates clearly with the veterinarians, other hospital personnel, and clients to ensure that patients receive the care they need. The Outpatient Veterinary Technician provides for patient and client comfort by keeping the hospital clean and pensation:$23 - $33/hr, based on experience and skillsetAnticipated Schedule:Full Time4 x 10-hour shifts weeklyWeekends/holidays as necessaryEssential FunctionsProvides compassionate patient care, keeping patients clean, dry, and comfortable.Alerts the veterinarian(s) to changes in patients’ condition.Keeps up to date medical records with consideration of referral veterinarians changes in care. Recognizes patients with contagious disease and follows relevant procedures.Provides safe and effective patient restraint.Medicates patients by order of prescribing veterinarian or technician.Uses proper safety techniques and positioning for radiological procedures.Assists with and documents patient treatments.Walks, cleans, and feeds patients.Sets up and performs with procedures, such as IV catheterization and other common treatments.Performs venipuncture on commonly used veins.Places urinary catheters.Performs anesthesia and sedation for common procedures.Sets up and assists veterinarian with common procedures ie: endoscopyPerforms CT scansPlaces nasal cannulas for oxygen delivery.Places nasoesophageal and nasogastric tubes in patients. Fills prescriptions accurately; asks for guidance if necessary.Runs lab tests as needed in hospital.Discharges of hospitalized patients.
