The Safety Advisor will assist the division with planning and implementation of safety policies and procedures in compliance with local, state, and federal rules and regulations, including Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and Department of Transportation (DOT). The Safety & Training Advisor is responsible for reinforcing safety culture within the organization.Essential Job Skills/Duties:Safety Program ManagementDraft basic safety policies and procedures under supervisionUpdate safety programs based on regulatory changes and report modificationsContribute to safety risk assessments by identifying potential hazardsAssist in monitoring safety program effectiveness and suggest improvementsConduct basic tailboard safety talks for small field crewsHelp field supervisors identify potential safety hazards on job sitesDeliver basic safety orientation sessions to new employeesIncident Management and InvestigationConduct initial incident scene preservation and documentationAssist in interviewing witnesses and collecting statementsHelp identify immediate causes of incidents under supervisionContribute to the development of corrective action plansConduct preliminary field interviews following minor incidentsAssist in recreating incident scenarios using field diagramsDeliver basic incident prevention training to small groupsCompliance and InspectionsConduct routine safety inspections under supervisionIdentify common safety violations and non-compliance issuesAssist in preparing inspection reports and recommendationsHelp track the implementation of corrective actionsConduct routine field safety inspections under supervisionIdentify common safety violations observed in the fieldDeliver basic compliance training to small work groupsSafety Data Analysis and ReportingCompile safety statistics and metrics under supervisionCreate basic data visualizations to represent safety trendsAssist in preparing monthly safety performance reportsIdentify data discrepancies and report them to supervisorsAnalyze field safety data to identify basic trendsPrepare simple reports on field safety performanceDeliver basic training on data entry and reporting proceduresSafety Communication and CulturePrepare basic safety communications under supervisionFacilitate small group discussions on safety topicsContribute ideas for improving safety engagementAssist in developing safety awareness materialsDeliver basic safety culture presentations to peersConduct simple tailboard talks on routine safety topicsDeliver basic safety communication training to small groupsEducation and Experience:High school graduate and/or GED equivalent2 years minimum related experience (ideally within power line construction)OSHA 30 certification and/or related safety certification, preferredUnderstanding of Federal and State safety regulations and training requirements.Proficiency in Microsoft Office software and experience with web-based tracking software.
