Job Description

Some of what you'll be doing: As a Harbor Operations Specialist, you will be front-line operational staff for Port properties for commercial fishing, commercial, and recreational vessel facilities. You will manage day-to-day operations of maritime business and ensure all activities are followed according to expectations, policies, and procedures for safety, environmental, and efficiency. + You will provide customer service and standard operational information to customers and the public, and establish and maintain positive interactions to address concerns, answer questions, and assist with their needs. + You will provide property security by patrolling buildings, upland gated fence storage yards, and lockers ensuring that all areas are locked and secured for facility and public safety. + You will enforce parking policies and procedures to ensure proper operational compliance. + You will collaborate with other Harbor Operations Specialists, contracted security, Portfolio Manager, and maintenance personnel to meet customer needs. + You will exchange information and provide daily updates to bring awareness of routine events, scheduled special events, and activities impacting facility operations. + You will provide updates and revised post orders to on-coming Duty Harbor Specialist at shift turnover. + You will perform roving security patrols by driving between multiple maritime customer locations across port and waterfront properties in order to respond quickly to emergencies, incidents, alarms, service requests, and security issues using a vehicle to ensure safety and operational efficiency. + You will serve as a First Responder, operating a skiff and deploying oil boom equipment for spill containment and reporting procedures in compliance with safety and regulatory policies. You also have general proficiency with desktop office applications such as Microsoft Outlook and Word. + Customer-oriented u2013 You possess proficient customer service skills, especially face to face interaction and have excellent verbal and written communication skills. + Independent Problem-solver u2013 You have well-developed problem-solving skills and conflict resolution skills to effectively manage through expected and unexpected change. You can also work independently with minimal supervision. What else you need to know: + Driveru2019s License u2013 You will need a valid Washington State Driveru2019s License, or the ability to obtain one, is required in order to travel locally to project sites. + Forklift Experience u2013 You must have prior forklift experience in an industrial or warehouse environment. + Work Schedule u2013 Your normal work schedule will be Friday-Monday, 10:30 a.m.- 9:00 p.m. This is a relief position, meaning your schedule may occasionally change to cover morning shifts as needed. You may be required to work any and all assigned shifts, including weekends and holidays. You may be required to work during emergencies. + Work Environment u2013 You will generally work outdoors in all types of weather conditions, as well as in an office environment. Additionally, you must have the ability to lift up to 50lbs with or without reasonable accommodation. You may be exposed to areas of high noise or various hazardous materials. + Washington State Residency Requirement u2013 Employees must establish a residence in Washington state within 30 days of their first day of employment and must maintain a residence in Washington State during their employment with the Port of Seattle. If a position is eligible to telework, work performed while teleworking must be performed in Washington State. + Overtime Eligible u2013 You are eligible for overtime pay in this role. + Safety Requirements u2013 You will be required to comply with all work rules, safety, and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) requirements.
