Be a part of a world-class academic healthcare system, UChicago Medicine Ingalls Memorial Hospital as a Painter.In this role you will apply protective coatings to interior and exterior portions of Medical Center buildings, furniture, and fixtures according to the decor of the location. Essential Job FunctionsKeeps working areas neat, clean and safe.Communicates with patients, visitors, and other Hospital employees with tact.Offers assistance to patients and visitors requiring special assistanceMaintains patients' rights to privacyPerforms minor maintenance of equipment used in the performance of dutiesTapes drywall and prepares surfaces prior to the application of paint, stain or wall covering materialApplies decorative and protective coatings to interior and exterior surfaces of the Medical Center buildings, furniture and fixturesRequired QualificationsHigh school graduateSuccessful completion of recognized apprentice program in painting. Must be able to pass vision test for color blindness in pre-employment physical. Ability to read and comprehend written instructions and communicate with others in writing. Knowledge of use and maintenance of power and hand equipment used on the job. Must be able to work from ladders and scaffolds. Must be physically capable of performing the work expected in an efficient manner. Must have knowledge of safety rules, practices and equipment. Must have the ability to communicate effectively and work with other people.
