Persistent Systems is looking for a Linux Systems Administrator to join our team at our headquarters in NYC. The Linux Systems Administrator will play a critical role in ensuring our Linux servers and systems are configured and running optimally. This individual will solve complex database problems and play a critical role in the overall success of the organization. Position ResponsibilitiesDesign and manage the installation, configuration and maintenance of Linux servers and workstationsProvide technical support for computer network issuesCollaborate with others to resolve information technology issuesDesign integrated computer systemsTest computer hardware performanceTest software performanceDocument operational activitiesInstall computer hardwareInstall new/rebuild existing servers and configure hardware, peripherals, services, settings, directories, and storage in accordance with best practices.Perform system monitoring, integrity verification, and availability of hardware, server resources, and key processesPerform regular security monitoring to identify any intrusionsCreate, execute, and maintain data backup planEnsure all required file systems and system data are successfully backed up to the appropriate mediaCreate, change, and or delete user accounts as requiredResponsible for hardware/software asset management and deployment for new and existing employeesProvide help desk support and resolve issues for end-usersMinimum QualificationsBachelor’s degree in computer science or related fieldProficiency with Bash, Python, or a UNIX oriented scripting language (particularly with a focus on automation)Minimum of 6 years of systems administration experience in a small to medium sized business’s IT teamExperience working in a Linux environment as a system administratorFamiliarity with basic networking (IP addresses, routing, firewalls)Familiarity with configuration management toolsMust have a US Security Clearance or the ability to obtain a US Security ClearancePreferred QualificationsMaster’s degree in computer science or related field10 years of systems administration experienceExperience in AnsibleCompTIA Linux+ Certification Experience working in an Enterprise Linux environment with any distributionExperience with LUKS encryption and LVM management at scaleSELinux or AppArmor Endpoint Management Containerization experience with Docker or equivalent a huge plusServer Endpoint Automation and Deployment with Kubernetes or equivalentCompTIA Server+ CertificationRed Hat Certified Engineer CertificationThe total compensation for this role can vary from $125,000 to $156,000 a year based on individual qualifications. Eligibility for yearly discretionary bonus.
