Each project at Kiewit is run like a small business, with the Finance Analyst concentrated on critical tasks such as cost control, payroll, accounts payable/receivable, human capital management, and compliance. This position will become skilled executing processes and utilizing tools related to different types of cost and revenue components such as labor, construction equipment, materials, and subcontracts. The Finance Analyst will be an integral part of the month end close out process, and assist with preparing a financial reporting package for project management. District Overview Kiewitu2019s Northern California District is one of Kiewitu2019s leading infrastructure districts specializing in heavy civil projects that include earth moving, water/wastewater, transportation, roadways, and power projects. Most of our work is concentrated in the Northern California region. Location Kiewitu2019s Northern California District is based out of the Fairfield, CA office and supports projects throughout the Northern California region, building out project/construction schedules for all types of infrastructure work across the region. Responsibilities u2022 Recognizes the importance of being a team player by adapting to project needs and helping in other areas as needed u2022 Fosters relationships with the Operations team and shows a willingness to learn about the work u2022 Understands the payroll and HR process workflow, and masters the systems used to properly hire, transfer, terminate, and pay all employees u2022 Comprehends how goods are purchased, invoices are received and paid, and maintains purchasing workflow internal controls u2022 Demonstrates understanding of the accounts payable process workflow and is able troubleshoot payment or vendor issues u2022 Understands intercompany and client billing process workflow, importance of timely and accurate billing documentation, and the effects of timeliness on cash management u2022 Ensures that all cost and cost adjustments are reviewed for accuracy to meet company standards and accounting rules u2022 Reviews costs, quantity claiming, budget structure and exception reports and makes appropriate corrections to ensure accurate reporting for management u2022 Identifies, adjusts, and reviews forecast and budget issues with the cost report to confirm proper recognition of cost and revenue u2022 Displays first-rate customer service skills u2013 maintains a positive attitude and always willing to offer a helping hand to other team members u2022 Maintains highly organized work environment, understands importance of time management, and communicates in a clear, concise and effective manner u2022 Follows the Corporate Compliance Program and works in conjunction with the compliance department to implement all EEO and labor laws at the project level Qualifications u2022 Ability to travel up to 25% u2022 0-1 years of financial/data analysis experience u2022 Bacheloru2019s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Statistics, Business Management, or equivalent degree u2022 Minimum GPA of 3.0 or above u2022 Previous internship experience is preferred u2022 Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook u2022 Experience working with Pivot Tables, V-Look Ups, and other key excel functions is preferred u2022 Effective oral and written communication, organization and interpersonal skills u2022 Strong attention to detail with the ability to recognize discrepancies u2022 Positive attitude, eagerness to learn, and passionate for continuous improvement u2022 Must be able to freely access all parts of a construction site in wide-ranging climates and environments u2022 Ability to work well independently, as well as part of a team u2022 Must have a valid Driveru2019s License Other Requirements: u2022 Regular, reliable attendance u2022 Work productively and meet deadlines timely u2022 Communicate and interact effectively and professionally with supervisors, employees, and others individually or in a team environment u2022 Perform work safely and effectively.
