In this role, you will be responsible for coordinating with the 24/7 staffing and operations of the State’s Miles City data center. You will assist in developing and maintaining comprehensive and standard policies and operating procedures for the center, ensuring consistent, high-quality service delivery.You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to support planned software, hardware and network upgrades, ensuring seamless integration of data center operations. Additionally, you will oversee facility maintenance contracts and mechanical systems, as well as following required inspection timelines on key facility infrastructure.If you possess the technical expertise and a calm demeanor in crisis situations, we encourage you to apply for this essential role and help us safeguard Montana's digital infrastructure.Primary duties include:Ensuring the performance, availability, and security of data systems and infrastructure.Monitoring and maintaining environmental conditions such as temperature, humidity, and power terface with various contactors to conduct data center facility inspections according to required cadence per code.Implement and maintain data center documentation, reporting, and change-control procedures.Providing support and resolving issues related to data center equipment and systems.Managing inventory and ordering supplies necessary for continuous operations.What are we looking for?Education and Experience:An Associates degree in telecommunications, information technology, electrical engineering, computer science or related degree;Five years of applicable experience in data center management or a related field.Strong knowledge of data center facilities and technologies.Alternate combinations of education and experience will be considered on a case-by-case petencies:Comprehensive understanding of information processes and technologies, including various hardware platforms, software facilities, and data storage termediate knowledge of Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) systems, Halon fire suppression devices, and power monitoring and uninterrupted power supplies. Data Center certifications would be beneficial.Understand complex technological issues and communicate them clearly to non-technical audiences, especially during critical incidents.Evaluate potential risks to Data Center reliant systems and implement proactive solutions.Utilize strong soft skills for effective engagement management with team members and other stakeholders.Manage vendor and contractor relationships.Learn and adapt to new technologies and tools, continuously improving the Data center facilities operational capabilities.Ensure all operations align with the organization’s security policies, ensuring compliance and minimizing risks.Strong communication, technical, and conceptual skills to interact effectively with a wide range of contacts, both technical and non-technical.Manage time effectively, prioritize tasks, and ensure that critical issues are addressed promptly while balancing routine operational dutiesCritical thinking and problem-solving skills especially in high-pressure or emergency situations.
